My baby tiel escaped this morning from her cage and oddly enough did not fly out the open window or the front door for that matter. She stayed in pudgie's cage and whistles to her as if telling of her great escape. Unfortunately I could not coerce her into with millet into her cage and had to resort to towelling her to get her safely inside. She was understandably agitated and annoyed with me for being brazen enough to hold her. Should I be worried about her being unwell as a result of the towelling or will she just need some time to settle in. She is eating her millet and talking with pudgie. I have attached pictures of her below. Thank you very much. Have a nice day. :yellow1:

Wow, that sounds like a really close call with an open window and door so close, I'm glad your tiel didn't escape for good.

Your baby tiel will probably be fine now that she's been safely returned to her cage. :)

Both your babies are beautiful.

Thank you Allee. It was quite a close call indeed. I still have no idea how she escaped. Rest assured she is outside enjoying the weather with all cage doors securely tied with twisties as an added precaution.

Thank goodness she didn't fly away! That was definitely a stroke of good luck:) They can be regular little escape artists. They are both very beautiful:)

Thank you Terry :). Indeed it was. It's the first time I ve had one of the tiels escape. And she have me such an innocent look as if to say hello there I m just catching up with pudgie by sitting on top her cage. I ve been keeping a close eye on all the birds today still a bit shaken up by that experience. How are you and your fids? I hope all is well. Have a nice day :)

We are all doing well, thank you for asking!
Kodee, my IRN, figured out how to open his cage door last week, and when I came down he was sitting on Xander's cage, just looking in. It is so scary even when they are okay to think of what might have happened.

It is quite scary indeed. I reckon with a cat or dog it's a bit easier because they can't fly away only stroll about the garden. I ve never interacted with an IRN before. What are they like with respect to temperament, noise levels, personality? The only experience I ve had is with amazons and the macaws I used to do meet and greet sessions with for young kids. I m glad to hear you also had a happy ending. Thank you for your response :)

My IRN is pretty wild, but he was never socialized until now and is coming along. He is a lot smaller than my Alex, yet chases him off his cage every day...he has a huge bird personality..lol.

My YCA chases my OWA around their outdoor cage. The OWA was my first parrot and I adopted the YCA as a companion for her when I m away at uni during the day. They get along well for the most part but my YCA will lunge at her and pretend to bite her if I m giving attention to the OWA over her. They re both one year old so we ve working constantly in the sibling rivalry. There never quiet here with the 12 birds and I wouldn't have it any other way :) it's been my experience that pets love unconditionally in a way people so rarely do.

Your home sounds like a very happy place!

Not long ago, I put all my birds in their cages for the night and let my dogs back in the bird room. Everyone had been fed and I had removed the fresh food. I was playing with the dogs and looked over to see one of my quakers sitting on the corner of his seed guard. My heart nearly stopped before I got to him. I must have left the latch undone. Now I check the doors repeatedly. I probably scared Zeke a lot more than the dogs did, when a snatched him up before he had a chance to fly.

I have very tolerant neighbours as you all are familiar with the excited amazon screams when their favourite person walks by. I love animals which is what led me to pursue a bachelors in zoology however the job opportunities were few and far between so I m currently studying to be an optometrist. When I m not in lecture or at uni, every free moment is spent with my fids. I reckon my parents get a bit jealous with the time and dedication I give them but they re my children so they deserve it :) I m not allowed cats or dogs as my sisters are terrified. Although if ever I found myself in your situation with the dogs I would have acted on that surge of adrenaline and then spent the rest of the evening in a corner weeping while clutching my did to my chest. They can be quite cunning with latches of all sorts. How was your day?

I came home from work once and my BFA Sassy was out of her cage. It wasn't a problem as far as her getting outside, but it was before I could get close to her so it was hard to get her back in her cage. Then a couple days later I walked out to the dining room and she was on my stand next to her cage...same thing...hard to get her back in. Now her cage is Sassy proofed! It is SO much easier now that she steps up to me and I can take her out and put her back in!

Awww sassy was having lots of adventures while mummy was away ;) they look so innocent at you when you find them out of where they aught to be lol. I m happy her cage is now sassy proof best to keep her safe and sound. ;)

A few years ago I had just got Halloween and another cockatiel that was bought for me by a relative and at the time I also had 2 golden retrievers I woke up one morning and noticed something wasn't quite right it took me a few minutes to realize what was wrong when I noticed the cage door was wide open thankfully both birds were safe in the cage and the dogs had left them alone. Now that I have a different dog who figured out much to my dismay how to open his crate I went to walgreens spent $10 on 4 little mini pad locks so he can't get outof his crate and I will be buying a few more when I purchase my bird cage and bird for the same reason. It's scary finding your pets outside of their cage no matter what the animal is.
