Again I know his cage isn't the greatest but he is getting a new one very soon!

Anyways day after day I have inched closer and closer to Bruno's cage , while talking sweet and singing to him.

Today I was able to sit right up next to the cage, literally inches from him. Just the bars separating us. I would talk/sing and when I cocked my head to the side, so would he :).

I was able to give him treats! He wouldn't take it directly from my hand. But I could sit it between the bars on top of his food dish. He didn't hiss or shy away to the back of the cage! :) He was very.brave.

I then let my fingers constantly rest on the rim of his food dish. So my tips of my fingers stuck through the bars. He gave a little hiss at first but calmed quickly and started to eat. He lightly nibbled and licked my finger tips. Not once did he shy to the back of the cage. I am so proud/happy.

It's baby steps but it's progress!

At least he seem curious which that's a good sign! Its just a shame the breeder didn't work with him prior....

I definitely agree with you on that! But I understand she couldn't because she recently had a stroke, and didn't have steady enough hands to work with the babies. She explained to me she would have normally hand raised/fed them. But could not with this clutch of chicks. And she lived all alone, so she had no one else to do it for her.

It sucks but I can deal. I feel like we are heading down a good path together. He's definitely coming around...Slowly but surely :).

Oh! And he is finally showing SOME interest in his toys and perch! He does still prefer the food dish for perching. But he is definitely exploring more :).

For me if I feel the baby is too mean, I don't let them go. They stay with me. Only had to do that once. Some how one of the babies turned out to be evil even though I hand fed and trained him.

I definitely don't think he is "mean". Just scared. Which I would be too if I was ripped from the only existence I had over known. To be taken away and placed in a totally different environment. I get it.

She probley would have kept all her birds if she could. But due to the stroke and living alone, she was forced to move into assisted living.

I can't really blame her for the way Bruno is. She didn't plan on having a stroke.

I just choose to have a positive out look. Will Bruno ever be perfectly tame? Probley not. But I will love him just the same :).
