2 Plum Heads. Indian Ringneck. Hahns Macaw <3
So as you may know, I got my female plum head around 2 years ago and pretty much since then have been looking for another. I searched high and low on every website I could and every pet store within 300 miles of me, and had no luck =/ I was even talking to someone who is getting a baby, and called the place they got it from and of course they did not have any.
Well.. Last Tuesday I was on a local bird fb group, and after talking about my girl for a min I was told that a local bird specialty store had a baby!! I didn't know what to think because I had checked with them several times before with no luck. But I called them asap and sure enough they had one! I asked if they could hold him for a few days for me (they close before my fiance gets off work, and were going to go on his day off) but apparently they had a lot of calls about him. So we called right back and put down a deposit. We ended up changing his days and going to pick him up the very next day! LOL
So now we have a new baby in the home that I honestly never thought we would have. He does not seem very skittish at all. He walks right up to my other plum head Letta, and they both kind of look at each other and hold their ground. Which is odd because Letta has always been dominant to any other animals in the house and lets them know that. My IRN is jumpy and seems scared of him when he gets close. Im guessing that's because Letta would snap at her when they were still new to each other if she got to close. But it already seems to be bettering!
One question I had was that he's been eating Higgins Sunburst for conures, is that a good brand? I've never really looked into it. What is your experience with it? My other eats Harrison's so I have no problem converting him to that. :green2:

Have it down to Echo, Carnie, Syn, or Lotus.. ugh why is this so hard? LOL

Syn sounds a lot like Sin so I wouldn't use that name. Lotus is really good though!

Syn and sin are pronounced the exact same lol we were going with Lotus but the "L" confused my Letta so no L names.

Well, my son decided on Echo for me! LOL! Thank you all for your nice comments! Hes eating pellets and fresh foods now. He's a bit nippy when in or on his cage, but if hes out with us or on the floor (hes been trying to fly with Letta) he will gladly step up. Also learned he loves to snuggle in blankets or your shirt. So BEYOND happy that I found him! :D

When I was little, I was set on getting a plum head and we were never able to find one. Your post opened up lots of memories of me when I was about 10, frantically checking out lots of library books to try to learn the most I could about plum heads!

Congrats on your new baby Echo, he's a little doll! More pictures please!!!!! :D

Aww thanks! I will get new pics asap! Like I said, it took FOREVER to find him.. my first girl I just came across and didn't think they were rare at all. Up till I found him, I always wondered if I would still have gotten Letta if I could go back in time knowing how rare they seemed to be. I'm pretty sure I still would! HAHAHA

I feed most of my birds the Higgins Sunburst, along with veggies and some fruits

He loves pretty much all fruits and veggies I have given him, especially broccoli and blueberries! Now I've been giving a few hp Harrison's pellets first thing in the morning before anything else. Some days he will pick them right up and go at it, others he wont touch them. Still giving him some Higgins just smaller amounts. IDK I'm just really iffy when it comes to seed diets. Thank you for all the replies!!!

Here's a close up!
