Baby Drying Rack?

Okay, so there's this baby bottle drying rack that looks like it would be great for the kids to use for foraging. I suck at coming up with foraging ideas (all of my ideas are more appropriate for large parrots, not my tiny guys), so I thought this might be an easy way to entertain them. Just scatter some seeds and pellets in it, and they can spend hours trying to get the food out. I don't know how bendy the "blades of grass" are, but they could potentially hide in it too for privacy.

It's BPA-, phthalate-, and PVC-free. What does everyone think? I doubt they'll try to eat it, since it's clearly not edible. Also, they've never eaten anything they shouldn't, so it would be strange for them to start now.

The goal of my Post is to not scare you off of this concept. Your idea is well founded and should work well.

As you stated, the stiffness will be important not only for it been soft and therefore easy to push aside. But, if stiff, it could damage an eye.

Regarding eating. You are correct regarding not being a food source. The 'possible' concern is the reality of Parrots being Parrots and loving to crew near anything. Small clear plastic does not show well on X-Rays. You will need to monitor your Parrots to assure that they do not begin to crew at it.

If is does not preform to your concept, you can use it as a Drying Rack for Parrot Toys, etc...

Yeah, I saw this in the Baby section of toy R us. Same idea. Until I tried to figure out how I would clean it. Still trying to figure that out. Good on ya for thinking out side the box . Too many people trying to coddle to these babies, and not enough thinking about PARROTS!

Yeah, no human babies for me! I know, sounds weird coming from a female, but spending the rest of my life looking after another human just doesn't seem appealing to me :/. I'd much prefer looking after non-human animals.

Anyways...the only one I can really picture gnawing on the thing is Noah. Then again, I somehow trust him enough to nibble on plastic baggies under my supervision. I know, he could inhale a piece, but the way he chews on them seems relatively safe. Again, the lives of the kiddies are more important to me than my own, so I'm paranoid when it comes to potential dangers.

I think this drying rack could be really entertaining for them, and if it doesn't work out, I could always use it for drying their toys and perches. I think I'll go ahead and order it, and let you guys know how it turns out! Samantha got a black eye one day from a toy, so I'll definitely have to make sure they won't poke an eye out on it!

Okay, I went ahead and ordered that drying mat thing for them, along with this accessory that helps to dry smaller items, and I also bought this awesome looking acrylic foraging box thingy for the kākāriki. Hopefully everyone will enjoy the mat (regardless of whether or not they can safely use it for foraging, I'll be stealing it from them to use for drying their toys and perches. I don't wash their stuff enough because I never have a place to put the stuff to dry). The acrylic foraging box thingy is made by some no-name brand (I tend to only buy from specific brands for safety reasons), but acrylic is considered non-toxic, so I thought I might as well order that too. The kākāriki like using their feet, so I thought they'd like to use their feet with that hanging foraging toy. Tiki definitely enjoys reaching his foot through the grate to grab old food off the bottom of the cage (ew!), so I thought they might enjoy that cool looking toy.

I'll put my own clip and rope on it, since the hardware it comes with looks extremely zinc-y, and somebody's probably going get their face caught in the clip or something.

Man, everything was such a good price! For once, Amazon.ca came through! I wanted to also get them that acrylic seesaw foraging toy (Creative Foraging Systems makes it, or maybe Caitec...), but that would've cost over $40!

Well, the drying rack came in, and the "grass blades" are too stiff, so I'll be using it for drying their toys.
