Hi Everyone;
My pair of parakeets are going to be parents for the first time....hopefully.
I have a yellow female that will be 7 years old this fall. Her mate is a blue boy from Petco that is about 3 years old now.
The female has laid eggs before but always destroyed them so I pretty much gave up that there would ever be any babies. Their cage has a
nest box attatched and has always been there.
I had noticed in the past couple of weeks that she had been going in and
out of the box alot. One day last week I looked and there was an egg.
I did not get too excited....seen this before. A couple of days later...another egg and she has been staying in there a lot. This morning...a third egg! Now I am really paying attention.
The male has been feeding her but I have not seen him go into the nest
box.
Now a question...What kinds of food should I make available to them now and if and when the babies hatch?
