4 yo B&G - Mattie
When we got Mattie a month ago her owner gave us food she had gotten from Dr. Foster and Smith.

Macaw Food: Drs. Foster and Smith Macaw Premium Blend with Omega-3s

She also mixed in papaya, banana chips and lots of peanuts and almonds. I slowly removed the peanuts and almonds and she only gets those as treats now (that was the first thing she would eat out of the mix and seemed to eat very little else).

In all of my reading it seems that a pellet is a better option health wise. I bought a bag of Harrison's HP Course this week and have been mixing it in. She seems to like it and has been eating it along with the other mix.

She also eats just about anything fresh I give her - bananas (she LOVES)-apple, kale, carrot, tomato, whole wheat pasta, egg, chicken, peppers, shredded wheat cereal. We also made a bird mash with 15 beans, mixed veggies, coucous, cilantro, noodles and sweet potato - she is so-so about this and picks through it.

I don't know what to do with these 3 bags of unopened Macaw food. - Is it okay to continue giving it to her with the pellets mixed in for now. The Harrison's is expensive so I was thinking of just continuing to mix it in until the other is gone, with the goal to get her onto Harrison's exclusively. That would give me time to stock up on the Harrison's, too.

Do you think this okay? Thanks.

Fantastic job on switching Mattie over! :)

I think it would be all right to mix the new food under the old ones, so that they are not wasted. :)

Mattie sure is eating like a queen - GOOD for you and her!!! :D

Sure mix it up, I've used and mixed the Dr F&S too, I also buy the Harrisons Lifetime Pepper Coarse, I get that it's expensive and so I mix a tablespoon giving variety, including Zupreem, which he loves, that Spencer eats (not to mention the other food he noshes on) Half his food usually ends up on the floor across the room anyway, so wasting Harrisons is non-negotiable. :53:
