Aviator Harness vs. Flight Suit Diaper?

I really want to get Quinn used to wearing a harness/leash so I can take him out and about with us. I am completely new to birds, he is my first, so I'm not sure which one I should get for him or how old he needs to be to start wearing one. He came to me with his wings clipped but he did learn how to fly and he can still fly VERY short distances and land gently on the ground. He lets me touch him everywhere and we play 'tickle tickle' where he lets me lift his wing and rub under it and sometimes will even lift it on his own for me to 'tickle' his 'arm pit'. He lets me rub his head and face and neck and seems to enjoy it. He'll dive under baby blankets and do summersaults so he doesn't seem to have any issues with things touching him. I found these 2 different styles...

I meant to see what they had at the bird store when I brought him for his check up on Wednesday but forgot and I want to start getting him used to it. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

Hi. I am not sure about the flight suit maybe someone else has used one but, I did just buy the Aviator harness. Though I expect it will be awhile before I can get my silly Mac to use it LOL

I have both, though I haven't gotten either on my Quaker yet. So far my bird finds the Aviator less disturbing, probably because it doesn't involve so much material wrapped around him. I know some people worry about the Velcro on the Flight Suit failing outside and losing their birds, though I think the Velcro is VERY hardy. I guess what I am saying is that they are both good, but I personally have found training to the harness easier than training to the suit.

They make a diaper for a bird??? Oh joy.....the accidental poops will be a thing of the past.

My Grey dropped an accidental poop in my coffee.....I found it...The hard way..spit spit spit ack ack ack....!

Go with the harness. Not that mine wear harnesses either. (I know I've got a macaw harness in a box somewhere... )

Aviator is the safest, most secure, and from what I ca tell the most comfortable harness out there, hands down. I have yet to find anyone who has used one properly who disagrees, and the parrot university web page has a comparison chart including many areas, so for safety the Aviator is much better. Now, if you are more concerned about poop on your shoulder than about security, the Flight Suit should work. I ha ve never HEARD of a bird escaping one, but I know an IRN who eats the straps off of hers... Also, birds can be potty trained, so I feel that is a better solution than diapers. I dhabi birds who wear the flight suit from time to time, and I introduce my babies to them, but the majority of my birds much prefer the aviator, and so do I.

A lady with a diaper-wearing duck in a shopping cart, and 2 macaws on the handle came into the bird store last week! (It was feather-trim-day). She got lots of grins and interested looks, that's for sure!

I would think that the harness works better. Wouldn't a diaper bother a bird while flying? I can't see any of my Quakers wearing a flight suit, specially not Clover.
