It's fire season here in Australia! At least around me anyway!
Our whole town almost got evacuated today because 5 fires were surrounding it :(
It's scary and we loose people every year, I just wish the fire would go away, and stupid people wouldn't light them. What goes through their heads!!?

Anyway, I am safe, we are safe. And now for another day. The sun is going down so that's enough for today :(

Over 50 degrees Celsius/122 degrees Fahrenheit in parts of Australia today with hundreds of wild fires burning across the country. :smile003:

It was such a joyously hot day today -.- I was on cooling birds down duty all day!

wow thats crazy!

It is not even hot here :S well not really, i haven't needed to put the air con on for me and fargo, we probably only had about 7-10 days worth of hotness all spring and summer and that was with the 2 heat waves which lasted 3 days each :)

I thought it has been a good summer! haha lots of rain and a lot of cloudy days :)

Stay safe brodie and mudkips <3

104 fires we had today, it's so scary. And to think how many life's are lost after the fires every year :(

i'm in werribee, so not too much of a fire prone area,
we can see the fires near Little River and Lara though..

they are happening way too often this year, it's horrible.

Oh I know and I had another behind my house in a paddock today, only small but it's still scary!!
I'm in Sunbury, and apparently all of outs have been purposely lit. Why? I don't understand.

My neighbour set his yard on fire! The idiot tossed a cigarette butt onto the grass and was completely unaware that his entire yard was on fire. We stopped it coming through the fence with our hose and put out the majority of his yard also, but it was so close to burning down the entire block. His housemates guineapigs were in the yard :(
Brisbane is normally good as far as fire... but we are in the most fire prone area of brisbane (we are near Bribie).

I hope those in NSW and VIC have their fire plans ready and are staying safe! Especially VIC, its such a condensed state, evac can be so dangerous. Far too many lives have been lost.

I can't even imagine what goes through the arsonists head... I assume most of them are bored teenagers that have no comprehension of the impact their actions have on peoples lives. Other fires are started through carelessness, like the neighbour. It doesn't take much when the grass is so dry.

I smoke, and I make sure every butt is completely out and in a bin or ashtray now.. I don't wanna go accidentally starting any fires myself!
I hope everyone gets out safe this year.. Sometimes I hope too much :(

For me, it's too hot and humid in qld, but alot of people like it. Perfect weather in qld is in about April-June, it's amazing! Aslong as it doesn't rain. Lol.
But melbourne weather my god, it has no idea what's going on. We're dealing with 15 degree days then the next it's 40, then 20, then 35, 16, 39, 40. It'll rain, thunderstorm, and the next day it's disgustingly sticky and hot lol. I hate this weather. Melbourne, stop doing this to me!! Lol. I'm sick of working in 50+ degree heat :(

Central - North QLD is horrible... its very hot and humid and rains almost all year :/ I hated living in Mackay.

Brisbane is lovely by comparison... rarely getting above 35deg or below 18deg. I almost moved to melbourne but for the fact the temperature range is so enormous there, 40deg in summer and in the single digits in winter... I decided against it. I have arthritis so it would probably be torture! lol
I want to move to SA... mainly because their wildlife keeping laws are different and I am interested in keeping natives as pets :) But I hear the weather may be similar to VIC to some degree.
