Hi everyone, I am new here, but wanted to sign up to see if anyone could help me. One of my B/G's has a degree in engineering from MIT. And in such has beaten, disassembled, destroyed, and or broken everything I've tried for clean water dispensing.
...Stainless bowls: learned how to empty them by slashing her head in the water, once the cage and floor were soaked, the bowl became a musical instrument that she throws around the cage for hours.
....Tried C-clamping bowl, she figured how to undo that rather quickly so now she has two toys to throw around. The bowl and the C-clamp.
....Lixit Water bottle: Best luck so far, but when she wants a bath, NOTHING is going to stop her. Now she prys the ball up the tube and rapidly drains the water into her mouth which she now slings everywhere, the cage, the floor the windows. Then she learned how to straighten out the mounting bracket wires to the bottle so now it hits the floor 3 or 4 times a day. So then I used a stainless steel radiator hose clamp to mount it. Had I not seen this with my eyes I would have never believed it. She was able to slide the hose clamp around the bottle until the adjustment screw was just inside the cage, then with her beak would back the screw off until it was loose..... and the bottle hits the floor! (again) It's like we are playing a game. She has nothing but time to figure this stuff out.
One time I came home and it looked like the cage collapsed. An entire wall of rot iron was laying on the floor, food and water EVERYWHERE, and she was sitting of top of the cage proud as punch of what she had done. She un-screwed the tiny mounting nuts and pulled the bolts out, the pryed the wall from the cage until it just fell over. Blue Locktight finally solved that. I only mention this to give you an idea of how smart and clever this bird really is.
One of her other favorite games is taking a set of old keys on a spring ring. In an few hours EVERY single key will be lying sepratly on the floor.
Is there a Bird proof watering system out there.....anyone ever have these types of issues?
*sorry for the long post!
