Lookin for a new friend!
For conures people and everyone. at what age did your birds start showing signs of talking? and what was babies first words?:orange:

My maroon-bellied conure started at 4-5.5 months. his first "words" were 'sshhhhhhh' (not kidding, i was being too loud lol) his actual first word was "pretty bird" then "kiwi" then "almond" (always cracks me up!) no videos, sorry, he's camera shy.:yellow1::08:

I don't know about conures but Puffin (an ecky) was around 5 mths before he said Hello and in the same month he learnt to say "hello"in about 6 different voices lol. He was 7 months when he started saying more than one word at a time and his first sentence was " I love you mum" it just melted my heart!

No matter what age the bird, when they say I love you mommy, your heart always melts, every single day...... :D

Mishka will talk ten to a dozen, but the moment a camera is nearby, she also becomes totally quiet.

Mishka started talking early as well, about 5 months old. Her first words were
ello luf you bye bye
It will always amaze me "how can a bird talk"
Looking at them, they are animals, and they can talk..... guess I will never understand it

My keet S'mores started talking about 1 year old. She calls me Mom sometimes. LOL it's because I'm always calling my mom from my room so she hears me. Now, when she wants me, she gives me her signature whistle and after a few minutes if I still don't show up, she'll start screaming MOM!!! I cried when I first heard her call me that.

That's so funny. No conures here but I like adding my 2 cents ;) Shadow (ecky) started saying Hello at about 4months but only when she's chatting to herself, she also barks and growls like one of our dogs and sqeals like a child when she gets excited... not sure where that came from!! She's almost 6mths so I'm sure there will be more to come. Our sulfur crested was already talking when we got her and I don't know how old she is.

Thanks, LOL and I'm a guy. I'm so proud of my baby girl.

I posted this on another forum, pardon my ignorance lol...

I have to brag about my Ekkie, Neo. He is 11 weeks old today. He was making sounds and it shocked me so much that I had to get a witness so no one would think I was lying. No joke, my witness heard the same thing as I, 'Heh-woh'....and lots of practicing with his voice. He is one sweet bird, he's giving me kisses and he does pin a lot while I'm talking so he must be soaking every word I say in. I hope he'll be a talker but if he was to one day not be...that will be ok too. He is my companion and I love him all the same. He has only been with us for a week :)

No conures here but my linnie babies came home around 8 weeks and within 2 weeks I could hear them mumbling a crude "pretty bird." They both will just sit on my chest lookinng up at me and watching my mouth. If I sing they go into a sort of lovey bird trance that is SO cute! They don't pin their eyes because they are all black but they blink a lot when interested.

Unfortuately they picked up a wolf whistle and haven't been working as hard to talk now. Don't start the whisteling first! I'm going to start answering their whistles with words to encourage talking more. It is funny though to hear their whistle everytime I enter or leave the room. I swear everytime I get undressed or take an article of clothing off, they start in!;) lol

I posted earlier that our cinnamon green cheek is about 14 month old now and he talks alot already. I believe he started around 6 months.

He barks and growls like a dog, he makes KISS noise (muuuaaahhh), he says "MMMM" when eating something good. He says "uh oh" when something "bad" happens (like he drops a toy or when I put him up in his cage). He just started saying "gimme a kiss", he says peekaboo (his favorite...I hear it about 100x a day), he says "hi", "mom", "dad", "polly", "Gabe", and he makes phone and doorbell noises. Oh, and he learned manners EARLY and says "THANK YOU" anyone you give him something. He also makes a "gulping" noise when he's drinking.

He is not 100% clear but we all know what he is saying. Peekaboo is by far the word that EVERYONE understands (even strangers) and it's his favorite.

I let him out of his cage first thing every single morning so he can go to his playstand (he only sleeps in his cage). I literally cried because he ran to the top of his cage and said "GIMME A KISS" and reached his beak up and went "MUUAAH" on my cheek. He is a joy beyond belief.

I laughed so hard Hubs asked me what was so funny! Sorry, but that is just too funny and cute!

Loki is almost 2 and he really doesn't talk. I never expected him to, as I was always told GCC's aren't really talkers. The only thing I can truly get out of him, that isn't just noise or something mumbled, is "Step Up". I've heard him say the following, but each time, only once; Hello (This was actually his very first word), Love You, Shower & no

I've only have my pineapple conure for 3 weeks, the breeder i bought him from said he is almost 3 months so I would say he is a little bit 4 months now and he is starting to sound the phrase "pretty bird". We've been repeatingthe phrase 4 days after we've got him. Hopefully he will clearly say it in the next few weeks.

My ekkie started practicing his words at about 5 months. He's just 6 months now & says "come on, step up, yeah, what are ya doin'", & just surprised me today with "cool!" He makes me laugh because everything he says either sounds just like Elmo, or like when Joe Pesci mumbles curse words under his breath in Home Alone. LOL! I'm sure your Conure will surprise you one of these days if you keep practicing words with him. :)
