Are these things safe for a bird to chew on?

Okay so now I'm into making my own bird toys. Anyway I have these little cups in my bathroom I use for mouthwash and stuff. Are they safe for birds? I can't tell if they have wax on them or not. I don't really know what wax feels like. I mean they feel glossy I guess but I don't know if it's just the type or paper or something. Anyway is this safe or no? I'm guessing it's not, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Oh, and what about bottle caps? Like the little blue Sam's Club water bottle caps and those big thick Gatorade caps?

Here's a picture of the cup I'm talking about.

And these little blue water bottle caps I have actually been letting my Quaker Parrot chew on. Are these safe? I saw a picture of another parrot on this forum with the same bottle cap so I thought they must be okay. He doesn't take anything off of the cap he just kinda gnaws on it.

What do you guys think? Thanks!

not sure about wax, would think there is something to prevent water from soaking through. I try to stay away from anything with colored ink. Read some where that colored ink wasn't good for birds.

It looks like it **might** have wax on it- but I'm saying that because it has a shine on it.

The bottle caps on the other hand, are ok- chili LOVES them so I save every cap I can lol

If you take a waxed paper cup and crinkle it up you should be able to see wax at the creases, or take something and gently scrape the side of the cup and see if any wax comes off.

Thanks. I'll just be safe and refrain from giving my bird these cups. I'm going to the store tomorrow anyway so I'll pick up some normal paper cups that I'm positive don't have ink or wax on. I think they are a good idea for a toy..

And thanks for the wax trick too, really cool

Ditto on the cups - if you're not sure about them being waxed, rather skip it.

Percy loves bottle caps and if you drill a hole through them, tie two together to form a "packet" and stick a treat in there, they can make nice foraging toys too! My explanation is a bit stupid, let me know if you want a pic of what I mean ;)

im the same way with cups, i can never tell. but i give cooper caps from different drinks. i would just wash them :)
