Hi there! Just this Saturday I added an 8 yo BH caique to my flock. I've known the bird for about a year as her owner was going through a tough time and had to board her birds at the place I work for a very long time. When she tried to bring them back she realized she didn't have the time for them that she used to and decided to find them new homes. I got this lovely BH caique who I have renamed Onyx.

Anyway, at the store she was always bouncy and playful (caique, right? haha). She has played a bit since getting home but her main interest is extreme cuddling! I mean--- this thing is about as cuddly as a cockatoo! She's doing great only being home half a week too-- first day she did decide to gnaw my sister's hand but now she loves on everyone.

Anyway--- here is a video of her extreme cuddling... she comes running over and floofs up and leannnns against my arm--- her preferance is leaning against my face, but I wasn't quite as comfortable with her doing that when I took this video--- shortly afterwards she learned she could also crawl into my shirt for extended cuddling time. It's ridiculous! haha

Is this behavior typical of caiques? She DID used to have a white-belly friend (female I believe) but unfortunately the poor thing suffered a stroke and passed away about three months ago. I think Onyx is doing pretty well considering.

Anyway--- ah yes-- the video

Too cute...
Yes, my Scooter is like that when he winds down for the evening..
He is normally found on the shoulder and when you approach with a hand he'll flop over on his back for some finger wrestling fun and head scritches..

She looks very happy already [and seems to know you] .I have 2 blk hd caiques cause I think their great !!!!!! Always trying to make people understand how wonderful they are. Thanks for posting that video ,now they can see :)

Yes, well I have handled her a lot over the past year -- she does know me pretty well. I guess I was just never relaxed enough at work for a long cuddle session like she is getting now that she is home!!

I did find out today that my sun conure is fuming angry jealous. I went to try and pick him up to cuddle him this evening and he bit me (never before has he done it just because I am trying to pick him up), and Onyx was upstairs and out of sight and I hadn't had her out for a few hours. I had to use a stick to get him out of the cage and then he was content to cuddle and be given treats, but... boy oh boy! Hopefully he will get over it. I was /trying/ to give him special one-on-one attention so he wouldn't feel left out but he wasn't having it.

Onyx is preening herself and hair surfing on my shoulder as I type. Oh what fun <3

Puck was a huge cuddler. Luckily for me, so is Darcy! :)

My pickles cuddles and lays over on his back and summer salts down my shirt to look me in the face, rubs his beak on my face and he is just very affecionate in general, most of them I have met that you bond with end up being this way.

Incredibly cute video--I love it. I can't speak for all caiques, but Eliza is incredibly cuddly. When I sit or lie on the sofa to read, she's there in a flash, and immediately goes into what I call "boneless mode." Essentially, what this means is that I'm not allowed to move again until she gives her permission!

She is a sweetheart-- she is pretty much happy to let anyone hold and pet her <3

There's a caique at my wife's work.. Heavy little bird... But she loves to rub p against people and cuddle... Originally named her she started, but a manager named her snow white... (I'm sorry to say but that lady needs to stop naming all of the animals Disney names.. Just saying..)

Anyhow... She's smart... She whistles and is trying to say pretty bird... But of course they have her priced at 1500 $...

But she's a puff ball too.... Lol... She plays a tad rough though...

Thank you for sharing this video, my favorite time is cuddle time with my gcc. I feel that is a great time for us to strengthen our bond. I'm glad you were able to give that sweet baby a good home.

What a nice video, thanks for sharing:)
