So, where I work when you buy a baby bird from us we include a DNA sex, we had to find a new lab though since we were having lots if problems with our old one so there's been a delay on getting our babies sexed, but today Apollo got some blood drawn (nail cut slightly too short, quickly take a sample, then stop the bleeding with the powder. Only 1 or 2 drops) and it's being sent to the lab.

What do you guys think, is Apollo a he or a she? I'll be keeping the name regardless but yeah Im hoping for a male. (mainly because I'm scared of egg laying / egg binding)

Hello!;?! Is Appolo a boy or girl????? Been waiting! Hope he is doing well!

*SIGH* the DNAs havent been sent out yet because we are still having lots of problems with our old lab and they are demanding 500$ from us for NO REASON they're saying we didn't pay them when we've shown them receipts of our payments... payments of things WE never got since we haven't gotten results for labs since like august I think.

Oh bugger :(

so you are at the receiving end of a huge line of someone-elses-Flup-ups?
No fun.

I hope they will get this sorted fast and in the meanwhile just send a few Apollo-feathers out to the competition?

I said female just to be on the opposing side. Make it exciting. I secretly hope Timneh is a boy also for the same reason. LOL

Gosh I really hope for male but I just have a gut feeling that Apollo is female.

Does Apollo whistle, strut, beak bang, or do heart wings? These are some common behaviors that only male tiels do.

From my understanding the DNAs have finally been sent out and the old lab has stopped harassing us. Now we wait!

He's doing fantastic!! He no longer hangs out at the bottom of the cage (unless he wants out while I'm in the room) he's still very clumsy and doesn't get around great but he's getting better. He's super SUPER smart. I got this toy for him (picture below) and I thought maybe it was too big for him or he just wasn't gonna get it so I considered taking it out of his cage and giving it to Lincoln, but a friend said she gave her 'tiels a similar toy and it just took them a bit to get it. Moment Apollo saw the nutriberries I had placed in the cups he went after it and got them IMMEDIATELY. He immediately understood how to spin the toy around to access the other cups without moving around, he immediately understood how to open the 'lids' to get to the treats, he just got it immediately! I'm in trouble!
