Does anyone have a Lilac crown here on the forum ? I am bringing home a 6 year old female rehome tomorrow, and wanted to see who else is owned by a Lilac crown for future possible questions. I have kept Zons in the past, but never a Lilac crown.

This is not the bird from the rescue, but off Craigslist. You would not believe all the emotional ups and downs Boysmom went through with the rescue and eventually withdrew her application. I hope when she has the time she will post up everything that has happened since July 6 regarding the application process with the rescue out of Atlanta. I went with her to the rescue and have supported her throughout the process. It's a really long story.

We have a Lilac - she is... evil. :) I love her dearly but my oh my. She's a handful. I'm sure you'll have better luck with your new fid, congratulations!

Is that the Lilac that was posted awhile back????

All I know is that this bird has been on our CL for a very long time. I do not know if it was posted anywhere else.

Kylie is home now !!!! The rescue was a nightmare for me. They made me jump through so many hoops and after 45 days of ups and downs with them I withdrew my application . I will post the whole story when I have the time to write it up, it is a long story. In the end I gained a stomach ulcer from all the worry of dealing with them. They did admit that they didnt want to adopt out any of the birds.

Kylie was offered to me about 6 months ago and at the time I had several foster's and didnt think I had enough time to dedicate to another. After the foster's left and I had the heartbreak of Kira, I found Kylie back on CL. I contacted her owner and we spoke numerous times over 2 weeks. I went to visit her and fell in love. She is quite sweet and very talkative and she even rides a remote control jeep ! She has been in a commercial also ! She steps up on command and loves to have her head scratched. She is on a seed diet, so I do have to convert her to pellets and fresh veggies, but she has already eaten pellets in the 2 hours she has been home. She is slightly under weight, as the previous owner stated she only fed her every 3 days. She is currently preening my Hubby's beard . She will remain in QT until Dr. Gardner gives the all clear. I am very pleased with this decision !

Richard, I will check that link now.

I believe I made the right decision in taking Kylie in and withdrawing my application with the rescue !

I posted about the course I took for CAC. Thanks for pointing me to it, I'm always pleased to help others.

My new baby is a Lilac Crowned! His/her (we don't know) name is Bacci. We have had him/her for almost three weeks. We got Bacci from Parrots of the World, and he/she is still a baby. We still feed Bacci with a dropper twice a day & give pellets and fruits/vegetables.
I have no prior experience with birds, but I think this (type) bird is so very intelligent. Bacci can already step up, step up repeatedly, and will give me a kiss on my upper lip when asked. However, I also find my little birdie to be extremely strong willed, and independent. Being that I don't have much experience with birds, this may be normal, and I'm the one who needs training!
The best part of having a Lilac Crowned, or maybe just my Bacci, is that he/she is pretty affectionate, and let's me cuddle, rub and touch him/her.
Good luck with your Lilac Crowned. I am still learning, growing, loving and adjusting to my new life as a bird parent :green1:
