It gets cold where I am in the winter and I want to be able to keep the bird warm at night when I go to bed. I have a Lasko Ceramic Oscillating Heater and wanted to know if anyone else uses this type of heater safely to keep their bird warm. I know there is no teflon in Lasko Heaters but I still want to make sure others are using them without a problem. Thanks!

Lasko's ceramic products are safe & without any PTFE or PFOA parts.....the heat in these products are still normally generated via a resistive wire, with the heat being collected & further radiated by ceramic radiants.....

So are you saying it is safe to use with my bird? Just making sure what you are saying. Thank you for the response.

Yep, they're safe, just watch the temperature, actually, companion birds can handle cooler temps better than we humans do, but they are sensitive to heat faster than we are.....

Have you or do you personally use this type of heater around your birds? Im asking only because im extremely paranoid right now. I just finally got my bird back from Washinton State University have a month of tests and no diagnosis. Hes better now and im trying to rule things out. Heater is one of the things id like to rule out.

If it's all ceramic it's fine.
Good to hear your bird is feeling better now. But no diagnosis after all that? No more symptoms?

Geez... I wish all men were as diligent and paranoid about bird safety as you are Corrie.
Hubby AND my ex just think I over react about household safety about the birds and leads to arguments.

If the heater is described as being a ceramic heater and it doesn't say anything about teflon is it safe to assume it doesn't have any teflon in it that could be dangerous? It's called a whirlpool ceramic room heater..

I have two oscillating ceramic space heaters, and have used them around my flock without any negative effects.

As Walt (weco) suggested, just watch the temperature- birds can overheat rather quickly.

Sorry, but just saw your question, but yes, I personally used/use a Lasko ceramic heater when I temporarily housed my birds in my van while house was being repaired after a fire several years ago.....

I assume you are speaking of Shoppa - from a thread a while ago that went dormant? If so, very glad to know he is doing better!
