For those who remember the saga of Glitchtown and Conniesmommy from last November, I thought you might all enjoy a little update.
As I type this, Sammy is happily shredding my toast and peanut butter sandwich.
This past year has truly been an adventure! Sammy is still a "brat" but, most of the time, his antics are more amusing than annoying. While our two fids are not cuddle buddies and probably will never do more than tolerate each other, the two appear to have learned much from each other.
Connie has relearned so much about being a playful and interactive bird from watching Sammy's behavior and us interact with him. She's gone from tearing flesh when she's annoyed to mostly just getting in fairly gentle warning shots. She has been free flying around the house more and more. She actually enjoys getting in the shower with me and lets me drip water on her. (Sammy will actually sit on my husband's shoulder under the full blast shower) Her relationship with Daddy has been improving too. They have "cookie time" each night. She has to sit on his chest to get her favorite gingersnap cookie. She actually flies directly to him more often to just hang out. That is a HUGE improvement!
Sammy......what can I say about our brat toddler bird? I think that pretty much sums up life with Sammy. He still gets regular "time outs" for bratty behavior but, the need for them is decreasing (or we are just growing more tolerant - LOL) Watching his "fighter jet" moves through the house is so much fun. He's an amazing little flyer. We did clip him a couple of months after we got him for attitude adjustment reasons. He's back to full flight now and it looks like he'll get to stay that way.
Glitchtown and I are in very regular contact. We've even had a Facetime session so he and Sammy could interact. It's been great to share Sammy with his first Daddy. Sometimes I think he recognizes Glitchtown's voice.
I've attached the link to one of my photo albums. I hope it shows for you so you can enjoy seeing the progress we've all made.
