Hi,
Moving to Malaga area in February. My CAG and dogs are coming with me and whilst I figured out how to transport them across the border, I still have no clue what I am going to do if in future I need to travel for a few days and board my pets. With dogs it’s easy and plenty of reputable choices around. But parrots?? What would you guys do in this situation and is there perhaps a network of parrot owners in Costa del Sol who pet sit for each other?
Secondly, I researched vets in the area, most provide with foods, like Harrison’s to which my CAG is used to in the UK. I am also thinking that I could, from time to time, order food and toys from Northern Parrots. Do you, guys, go the same, or are there more efficient sources in Spain itself?
Very grateful for your comments, many thanks!

If you are definitely planning on taking your CAG to Spain then please start researching CITES II requirements as this came into force in Feb this year. Has made it more complicated.

(Sorry for flooding, cannot edit previous posts???)

Make contact with this vet asap as they might be the lifeline you need in terms of boarding your CAG.

Check all the usual UK suppliers you use will send to Spain, make personal contact with them beforehand and have a chat about your move.

Hello, and welcome to the Parrot Forums family!

We have a big international community here, so I don't doubt that we have members from Spain. It's possible, however, that none of those members is on at the moment. So my suggestion is for you to bump this thread every once in a while to get it back to the top of active topics where one of those members would be more likely to see it.

And in the meantime, Plumsmum has given some good advice and links you can check into. Congratulations on your move, and wishing you a smooth and stress-free transition.

Welcome to the forums! Your move can be technically eased by learning the legal and cultural issues as deeply as possible. Border crossings in any locale require precise adherence to legalities, so plan and investigate every issue!

Malaga is a fairly good sized city with population of about 1/2 million, so there are bound to be parrot enthusiasts eager to welcome.

If you encounter difficulty sourcing food, toys, etc, mail order may be your friend. Ebay has a Spanish domain, and I entered "Zupreem" (popular pellet) to generate this page: https://www.ebay.es/sch/i.html?_fro...0.TRC0.H0.Xzupreem.TRS0&_nkw=zupreem&_sacat=0

many thanks for your comments.

I feel like a vet will be the first point of call, so I will research your contact!
