I know it's off topic, but do any of you participate on cooking or gardening forums? I've been looking around for some good ones, but aren't having much luck. I signed up for one cooking one, but it doesn't seem to be very active. Specifically looking into container gardening and am trying to advance my cooking skills, starting with the basics- upgrading my pots and pans and learning a bit of "food chemistry". Thanks for any suggestions! (Kiwi also appreciates your suggestions, as he both likes hanging outside in the garden during the summer and LOVES food lol :green:)

Well Kiwi sounds like me:) I can't help with the other forums. I'm a pretty good cook if I do say so myself and about the only gardening I do is with my orchids and backyard grape vine vineyard. You could try looking up container gardening and see what pops up. I also know there have been numerous books written on the subject.

I forgot to mention, if you ever watch the selling channel for QVC, there is a host on their named David, he is a real hoot to watch and loves to cook. He has his own cooking forum on the QVC website where you can get recipes, cookware suggestions as well as various cook books.

We don't have a TV, so I never watch QVC or anything. Right now, I'm looking to have someone clarify a couple questions I have on thermal conductivity of different metals they use in cookware. Also interested in learning a little more about why and how certain ingredients work together (kind of like how an egg is a binder, but I really don't know much about food chemistry beyond that:09:). Kind of trying to perfect a chicken substitute for some recipes I want to try, since I don't do the soy meat. Having trouble getting the right texture and consistency though. I did container gardening for the past 3 years in Arizona, but we live in Oregon now, so I'm not sure on what kind of pests I'm up against and the obvious climate differences, so I figure it would be best to network a bit with others growing small-scale food gardens up here.

Years and years ago, when I started with my roses, I signed up HERE: The GardenWeb Forums - GardenWeb

Even though the forum is nothing like this one, I learned a whole lot by reading. :)

Thanks for the link. I'm starting to think there aren't many forums like this one. Parrots seem to be the exception everyone wants to talk about all the time:D

I wonder if Mother Earth News has a forum.

No forum, but looks like an interesting site! Thanks!

Kiwibird, have you ever checked out Pinterest? I've found amazing recipes there and I've noticed many of the contributors are bloggers, also. You are able to ask questions, make comments and get feed back.
