Anyone in Santa Cruz County?

Hope this is in the right forum, I was struggling to decide which to put it in. I realize this is a long shot, but I've exhausted all of my options at this point.

I am looking to become a parrot trainer, and I have been struggling to find places to practice or work with birds. I work with the well-known parrot rescue (Mickaboo) in the area, but no one there has expressed need for help training, and after hours of searching I literally have found no one else. I even went to a bird expo today and found no one.

So, if you live in the Santa Cruz area and need/want help training, or if you know of anyone who does, I would be overjoyed to work with you/them. At the moment I have no birds of my own and so I feel like I'm not able to improve without practice! Again, I realize its unlikely anyone from my area will see this, but it's worth a shot

Have you offered your services at chain petstores? They always seem thrilled when i offer to help and show them a few things.

It would be so nice if the pet stores offered parrot classes, new owners would wsbt and need i think.... ive bern asked questions when shopping for parrot stuff by other shoppers. Their is definitely a need for your services out there... a desperate need for even just basics

I offered at 3 different private pet stores - one didn't need me, and the other two were treating birds poorly so it scared them how knowledgeable I was (one straight up lied and planned an interview with me and never went through with it). PetSmart is only open to those over 18 for some reason, and I don't have a Petco near me.

I could not agree more. I would love to be able to just set up a booth and help people who want birds.. so unfortunate. I can possibly try again at PetSmart when I turn 18.
