So even though my job isn't ideal, I've decided to get my bird back for the new year. However, there's a few things I need to get done first (and buy).
She needs a new cage because the one she has is meant for cockatiels and other similarly sized birds and she bends the bars easily.
Secondly, she needs a play stand for in my room. It can't be big because there just isn't the room.
Her cage will be in the living room, like before, the play stand in the bedroom right next to me. She'll spend the night in her cage and the early morning and afternoon (until we wake up) and then she'll spend the rest of the day on the stand. I'm hoping this helps solve her screaming issue, since before we didn't have space in the room to put anything in that she could sit on (and I don't trust her on my shoulder). She'll be right by me, like before we moved, most of the day.
I'd like your opinion on what I've found.

(I was originally ganna go with the bigger version of this... but there is NO WAY we can fit an almost 3 foot stand in our room and make sure that there are gaps between it and our desks so Jardy can't climb onto our desks and ruin our very expensive computers and their parts)

This is the same cage she lived in at the pet store. I'm just debating about what size to get her. Since she will be spending a good chunk of the morning and afternoon in it (for those who don't know. I work night shifts, and don't wake up till about 2-3pm) So I want to make sure it's big enough that she has the room to play if wanted. It''ll be more than just a night cage.
It comes in 4 sizes, her old cage was like 32" long and she still looked a bit big in it, so I'm wondering if I should get the 36" one? The living room is big enough to fit any of those cage sizes, so I'm not worried about the size of her cage lol.
I really want Jardy back, I miss her so much and I feel a part of me is missing. If I don't take her back now... she'll be in the temp home for another FULL YEAR before we can even think about moving (we renewed our lease for another year so we're stuck here until 2018). And I don't know if I can stand to go a full year.
I thought the arrangement would be better, that the woman would be able to bring her down to the pet store occasionally so I can see her, but Jardy constantly bites at her.
It took her months to even allow me to pet her, and a couple more months to be able to stick my hand in her cage to change her foot and water bowls without her charging at me. She has an attitude problem. I guess that's what happens to a bird who spent the first 4 years of her life in a pet store and got away with EVERYTHING! We were working on it though, she was stubborn, but I was slowly getting thru to her... but her spoiled past has made it impossible for this women to bring her to me....
So not just for the sake of Jardy and our relationship do I want her back, but for the sake of this poor woman's fingers. I know how to handle her, I've learned her nasty little secrets, but from what I've been told, this woman just has a hard time with her (even though she has plenty of other birds, but obviously they have less attitude than Jardy... lawl)
Is this something you guys think I should do? It'll be hard for jardy, no doubt. to get used to my new life, and hers... but If you guys think it would be better for Jardy to be in the temp. home for a year... I won't argue. This forum and the people on it haven't let me down before, so I'll trust your opinions... I'd rather take her back now though...
