Uses a toy for regurgitation? -_-

Cus this week I just realized that's exactly what Jardy has been doing. And here I thought she just liked the toy.

It's one of those balls with a bell inside, made of squishy stuff that you can fill with items if you want. A forage ball so to speak? Yeah, I thought she just liked playing with it cus of the bell, I'd always hear her ringing it, etc.

Then I happened to just peak out earlier last week cus I heard her playin with it and I wanted a good smile and I saw her regurgitating for the toy....

wtf jardy.

Call it whatever ya want, but I decided to leave it alone I was like "ok well.. this is just a one time thing, whatever, maybe she was just feeling exceptionally naughty today" (she has days like that... lots of naughty dancing...)

Couple days ago I once again caught her doing it... and wondered how long this has been going on (since she's been 'playing' with that toy for over a month now), but I've never seen any regurgitation anywhere in her cage unless it was just such a small amount that it blended in with her usual mess.

Either way, its out now and I haven't seen her regurg, or seen it in her cage since.

Mainly this is just something weird yet funny I've discovered about my bird and was curious if anyone else has had a bird that had a... 'special toy'. lol

My budgies have always regurgitated for several different toys. At first it was just their mirrors, which is pretty normal, they basically are regurgitating for "themselves". OK, I get that. But then they started head bobbing and regurgitating for their little plastic bird that's attached to a perch. Again OK, it's technically a "bird", so alright. Then Bubba, my huge English boy, decided he was hot for the set of plastic keys. Every day he just hangs in the corner of the flight cage his precious"keys" are in, god forbid one of his siblings tries to steal his keys away from him 😲...

Wait until Jardy and his ball take things to the next level...

"Dance like nobody's watching..."

My Bingo will regurgitate for one of his bells. He grabs it with his beak, shakes it up/down vigorously (klang-klang-klang) and regurgitates.
I have found he only does this with foods he likes and is soft, like mac & cheese, pasta, or scrambled eggs.

It's not something that happens often and I don't remove the toys because of it.

Yeah jardy plays with her bell thing daily, and even in the middle of the night. If she's truly regurgitating every time she plays with it (which I think she does considering the ball is always icky even though I clean it regularly) I don't want her doing that on a daily basis. There's just no way thats good for her, doing that on a daily basis.

Ollie regurgitates for coat hangers, sometimes when he preens my knuckles(not always) and my silver painted nails. Lol! I don't often paint my nails silver but the one time I did...Omg....
He is only 6 months old so I'm not sure what's up with that.

Take Jardy's bell away from him for a period of two months possibly that should do the trick. Hope that helps!
