I've done so much homework and decided to get a Hahn's, but I'm not in a hurry. I'm looking for a good breeder in California. I've found one breeder so far, but was wondering if anybody had a good recommendation for me?

Thanks a million! So excited :)

Hi. I don't know any breeders in CA. I know that at least in NJ and a few others have said this in other states that they had to really hunt for a Hahn's breeder. I just wanted to come on and wish you luck. I absolutely adore my Hahn's. I have a female, who is now eight months. i have had her since six weeks. She is just so smart and a total love. If I can give you a little bit of advice, it is real important to socialize your Hahn's right fro the start, allowing everyone to handle him or her and get him or her use to you having your hands in their cage and moving their toys around, this will help prevent him or her from becoming territorial or nippy with strangers. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Hahn's. i just love my Hahnna so much. Again, good luck. Oh and make sure you get a good size cage. We got Hahnna one that was suitable for a grey. They require a good amount of space. Elaine and Hahnna

I know that The Bird Shop in Sacramento, Ca has had Hahns babies for sale before.

Thanks for all of the advice! Hahn's are such great little creatures, I'm so excited to make one part of my life.

Socalwendy, I live near Santa Barbara but would be willing to drive to almost any part of the state to get a young one. Whereabouts are you in the state?

I just called the bird shop and they don't have one anymore. It's ok because I'm on a very slow search though :)

Anybody also have a suggestion?

I know Omar's exotic birds stores get baby hahns macaws in. Might be a little to far of a drive for you though. I believe they have at least 3 locations.

Thanks again :)
Omar's doesn't have any. I'm also ok contacting a breeder that doesn't have any but will in the future. Thanks for the leads, and I'm still looking :)

I am in San Diego... We have three bird stores here that I recommend you call. I have never been to Bird Haven but it's the sister store to Our Feathered Friends.

BirdSmart

Our Feathered Friends

A Bird Haven, though same ownership as Our Feathered Friends is night and day from each other. I'd recommend Our Feathered Friends personally.
Let's just say A Bird Haven's bird room is old, dark, and dingy, no quarantine practices - buys rehomes and just throws them in a cage right there with the other babies and adults, and the last reason is RUDE STAFF. At least one guy anyway, who had something up his butt when I was there last summer.
San Diego is a pretty good distance from me, so I only drive down once a year. One store I really liked closed down. I have been wanting to visit Bird Smart. I don't know why there are quite a few of bird stores and breeders in San Diego (south of me) and stores in Los Angeles (north of me), but SD and LA are too far to want to drive unless I plan to be there the whole day. There are only a couple Omar's stores in my area within reasonable driving distance. Not too many different species at the store this time of year. Pretty soon though... Spring is coming :)
