Anxious and still learning 😬

Hi, im posting about my anxiousness. Lol. I'm still so intrested in getting a macaw but I know I need to wait until I have a secure job when i'm older to make that decision. I love going to pet stores and seeing bigger birds and stuff. But I want a rescue to volunteet at. There's none in my area and I really want to have more than just one experience with a big mac before I get one in the future.

I'm trying to look for some but there's none around me that have actual sanctuaries just foster homes. I'm reading all threads, posts, and stories and working on making a humongous bird binder. In the meantime, can you guys give any and all stories/facts or needs about Green Wing Macaws. Thanks ☺:red:

That's great that you are doing so much research and wanting to learn before getting a large bird - very smart to also wait until you have a secure job, and a secure home suitable for a large bird.

If you have a rescue that uses foster homes, you might contact them and see if any of the foster homes are willing to let you come and help clean and feed. I've done this with teens in the past. The main thing is you must be very reliable, willing to do the dirty work along with the fun, and depending on how old you are, maybe have a parent come and stay with you the first several times until everyone is comfortable with you coming without a parent.

Most rescues are networks of foster homes, not a storefront type place like you might imagine. People do this out of the good in their hearts and dont get paid, so any money goes towards helping the birds and not renting a storefront that is not needed. You can contact them and see if there are any foster homes near you that could use help.
