I have dealt with macaws in the past and although I don't foresee aggression being a problem with Apollo, a 10 year old greenwing macaw that I'm fostering, I do see screaming as a potential problem. He has barely vocalized since I got him home at 3pm yesterday but I do understand this is the grace period and things will most likely change. I'm considering adopting this bird, but at the moment it is not up to me, but my mother. She doesn't like the way macaws sound however usually warms up to birds as long as they are not aggressive and don't cause major problems. I'd like to start teaching him now not to scream non stop BEFORE it becomes an issue. I don't mind him making noises. Vocalization is great. I just want to teach him that he can get my attention in different ways then screaming. He sees to get nervous when left alone in the bird room. Anybody have any ideas on how I can do this? He is in full flight so he is capable of coming to see me if he wanted to. Which I don't mind at all. I figure if he blends in here and doesn't cause any trouble then I can adopt him and I'll finally have a :red1: of my very own!
