Hi all ... I think I've now worked out the RL's belong in this section ... :)

Just wanted to say hello and introduce my Ozzy - he's 12 weeks old, hand raised and a hoot! This is my first ever pet bird. I have 5 Bernese Mountain Dogs, 3 horses, 5 sheep, 2 seahorses and a host of corals in a marine aquarium ... and a cat (Maggie) who is terrified of birds on account of most of them being bigger than her. She's a small cat (a great mouser) but most of the birds here are native Magpie's and they are brave!

The story of Ozzy :rainbow1: really comes about because we had this rescue Magpie my hubby found on the side of the road in November. His wing was injured so we bought him a cage to contain the use of that wing.

When he seemed better we transferred him into a puppy pen I've had for years and here his wing was put to a little work and soon enough he was able to fly ... :D we set him free January 8th and so ... I had this lovely bird cage... doing nothing... thought about what bird I would like... and there he was in a pet shop in this tiny cage.

Ahh the irony is, I can see that he will need a bigger cage soon. I have found one on line so hope to order it on Monday. This current cage will be used as his office while I'm working (I work from home).

And so here he is ... my little man Ozzy!

Ozzy is what I call picture perfect, he is absolutely gorgeous
His colouring is awesome.
Please do take him to the vet, for a full check up. Very important.
Thanks for sharing, enjoyed the pictures

The colours are certainly striking huh? I see these guys in the wild and they are so stunning ... never thought I would have one of my own one day.

That's good advise regarding a check up .. the trick is now to find a vet that spe******es in birds. There's no shortage of vets in my area but most of them focus on large animals (this is farming and horse land) or dogs / cats.

I was aiming to have a feather sent for DNA so I would know whether Ozzy is a boy or girl. Maybe I could do this at the same time.

Super cute and very beautiful feathers. I don't think they are very common here in Canada, its interesting to see the different types of parrots that people get to share their homes with. :)
