Another quick question

Sorry I know I posted a question a few minutes ago, but one I've been wonderinga t for awhile just came to mind. I know a lot of birds such as pigeons and doves ect lay eggs even when they are not with a male. Are Green Cheek Conures this way as well? I was only wondering cuz I've had Baby for about 5 years now and she's nvr shown any "nesting" behavior like the homing pigeons at Dad's do. Even when they are without their mate they still lay. Just wondering cuz it would be an easy way to tell if Baby was a girl or a guy

They can lay eggs without a mate. I call this chronic egg laying. They do not always lay eggs without a mate. Chronic egg laying can lead to health problems such as calcium defitiency.

Not all captive female parrots will lay (parrots in the wild will not usally lay without a mate) some breeds are more prone to egg laying than others, but I'm not sure about Conures - sorry.

Exactly. Always keep a cuttlebone in the cage, whether she starts chronic egglaying or not. Calcium is extremely important for all birds.

Ok thanks everyone it was just a curiousity question. And just a side note I do keep cuttlebone in her cage at all times.

As everyone said it is possible, but not necessary. So for determining sex this only helps if (s)he lays and egg. If you see eggs you know it's a female; if you don't see eggs you don't know whether it's a male or female.
