I just got back from my CAV with Angel and the news isn’t good.
She has always injuring her wing and causing it to bleed.
The vet found a mass at the end of her wing that will make
nessisary a partial amputation.
Blood was drawn and am waiting for results to make sure she is
up for the surgery.
is scheduled for the 17th of this month.
can use all the feathered hugs and prayers from the PF members.
thanks
Wes

I am so sorry to hear this. Sending hugs and prayers to you and Angrel.

Wes, I'm so sorry. Sending prayers and much love to Angel that she has a successful surgery.
I know that in your hands she will have a smooth rehabilitation.

Wes, I'm so very sorry to hear this worrying news about Angel. Sending much love to you both and wishes for the best possible outcome from the surgery, and a full and speedy recovery for your girl 🙏❤️

Aww... I'm a mess when anything comes up with my babies. So I'm sending peace and love your way.

I hope you get good results on blood work. And the surgery goes well, recovery quick. Once over there will such a reduction in pain and discomfort. Hopefully making her feel like a new burd!

Why does stuff in life seem to pile on us at at once...ugh

I’m glad you found the problem and it can be taken care of.

Another poster had a similar issue with her Quaker. Her bird lost that wing but she is fine now, living happily with one wing. Hopefully your Angel will just lose part of her wing but it won’t bother her anymore and she will stop chewing on it.

My Lucy lived to be a very old bird and couldn’t fly due to a wing injury. But she was a happy girl and BONUS- she could go outside with no worries that she’d get spooked and fly away.

I’m sorry this is happening to your girl but I hope she will recover well. Any anaesthesia is somewhat dangerous but when it is done, it’s done.

We will be thinking of you and Angel.

I'm so happy to hear. I hope recovery is swift.. and you spoil your sweeties with favorite foods, and love
No food for tonight, doctors orders.
Anesthesia can cause nausea in birds just like humans (but I bet you know that)
in advance of surgery we were giving millet to her every day instead of twice a week.

Post-anesthesia nausea is rough, even for mild anesthesia. Kirby regurgitated a bit after his last nasal cleaning.

I’m so glad to see Angel made it through surgery fine and am looking forward to their progress!

I’m glad the surgery is over and she’s ok.

This tells me more and more that one should look for physical problems with a plucking bird.

If she will allow it, pick her up and give her lots of smooches.
