Can a Amazon and Conure get along and be friends?

I only ask because this place has a Amazon that needs a home, and is giving it up for free. We like the bird, but it was abused and neglected by it's old owners.

I don't want to get another bird, because I got to do what's best for my bird first. I guess my question is, could the end up being flock mates and being kept in the same cage (Not that I would). I just want to know if they would like one another? If it's possible!

They could be flock mates, but never in the same cage and never unsupervised. Amazons are one of the few species that are known for hormonal aggression( cockatoos and eclectus are also known for this), and those beaks can do serious damage. even if they aren't hormonal it still isn't a good idea.

If I were you I would be all over that amazon. Do QT while all the blood results are coming in and start giving that amazon a awesome life :) they are amazing birds, and take it from me, seeing a abused bird truly open up is incredible if it hasn't already.

Most parrot can get along very well, like copperarabian said, NEVER leave two different species of bird in the same cage or unsupervised! An amazon can easily kill a small parrot, like lovebird, cockatiel and conure!

But most of the time, two species of parrot can get along just fine.

I agree with Copperarabin on this and while LMP's and Grey's bird's are getting along in harmonious bliss, there is no guarantee this will remain the case or that when tempers flare that they will be close enough or fast enough to prevent serious or terminal injury to their smaller birds.....all it takes is one bite.....
