Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
...ok,like a few folks here,I decided to make a thread for Amy..This will be her spot in our large "family" here.

So,we went for a ride to the pet store. There were ALOT of people today.
Everyone was coming up to us wanting to see her.
And,as always with new people she gets excited, poofs up,and chatters away.
Seeing how we were there, the young lady who is the head of the birdie section <says she has almost 10 years with them, has a couple conures herself> asked if I wanted Amy groomed.
Amy has just about all her flight clothes on and her nails were getting pointy.
We went into her office,I had amy on her perch stick. All I had to do was turn her perch,to were she was upside down < for some reason se likes that lol>and I cupped her back in my hand, whie Amy held on tight and gnawed at the perch. I extended one arm..it was fully clothed..snip snip..left the 3 first feathers from shoulder down, snipped the rest..ditto with the other side. Amy didn't really protest, just chomped the perch harder.. <better that a finger I guess! :p>

I started to get aggravated coz way too many people were coming into the girls office, poking their faces in where the girl was working and I could see Amy getting excited and anxious..I said to them BACK OFF PLEASE!
At one point,Amy DID do a pressure bite to the girl.
Then came the nails,Amy on her perch,me grabbing a foot and holding, while the girl trimmed. Amy went for another taste and when I said loudly NO BEAKY AMY...she stopped!:04:

So,she has been groomed..The store is a lot closer to me then her docs office, and I don't need to make it an appointment..and its free...still too many nosey people hanging and watching, making my poor little green girl anxious. BUT all in all,she was awesome as always.
Here is a few pics of the birdie area...the girl with Amy..then we went to Dunkin Donuts..a picture of a young woman with Amy..

She is just beautiful. That sounds like it was the easiest grooming trip ever.

i think all the regular "stars" here should have an ongoing thread. Makes it easier for fans like me to keep up with the forum's constellation.

Amy is quite beautiful, Jim! And apparently she is also very well socialized, too. Most impressive!

Thank you very much :)

Yep..she socializes...started when she was just a pup..Went everywhere with me,and still does.
I know she enjoys it too. As soon as we get into the car,she gets all poofy and chatty. She just LOVES the pet store lol. Loves to see all her relatives  especially the Green Armed Bee Bees. They come right up to the edge of their enclosure and I swear they are talking to her and she just babbles on,thats when she gets all the attention, people come to the bird area to see who is making all the noise.

Cold weather is right around the corner :( and then she'll be house bound...poor girl

I love hearing about amy(is Amy actually a boy I came across a thread in my researching and I didn't know if you were kidding or not) I'm going to try and socialize all my birds as well as you have done with Amy

Amy has been a girl for a couple of decades and all was going along so very well, everyone was happy and no one was one bit confused about Amy. Than one day this Spring, Amy's best Human buddy, friend and 'Sugar Daddy' (more commonly know as the bill payer) elected to support Amy's Avian Vet with a little more money as part of a Well Parrot visit and got a DNA Sex Test! Well for the week or so that took for that Test to come pack, you could cut the tension with a spoon. So when the news finally came, shock filled the Amazon Forum and beyond into all the Forums when it was found that Amy was in fact a 'Boy!'

Of course this was no surprise to Amy, he had known it from early on and was just to kind hearted to clarify that issue with Jim.

I am so happy that Amy will have her own thread! What a lucky birdie to have so many outings with her Dad:) She seems like she is a hit everywhere she goes:)

I stopped at the ALLPETS today,by myself, and went to the bird room <I will tell y'all about that in another thread shortly> And the girl who did the grooming asked me me "Are you by yourself? Where is Amy?????"

Ya,they love her there :D

You should so so totally nominate Amy for Pet of the Day! You know he deserves it, what a handsome, friendly bird!

To nominate him, see Tell the world about your pet! - Pet of the Day okay?

Thank you very much for the link :D Sounds like an awesome idea. I am thrilled that a lot of the parrot forum think so highly of my "girl"
And she thanks you all too.
I just wish there were more members closer to me here in CT,where Amy and I could do a "meet and greet" :)

When Amy and I took the ride to L.I. New York <2.5 hr ride> to meet Salty and his family,Amy was the perfect lady, mostly sitting on my shoulder all the way down. Like I have said many times, she loves to travel :green:
For the couple hours we spent with Salty,Al,Geri and Brett, she was well behaved. <except for that one incident she decided to see what Al's finger tasted like  >

You either like/love birds,or you don't,and every single person who like birds, that Amy and I have met, have nothing but praise.

All do to me SOCIALIZING her.

So,those of you who read this, and other posts, about socializing ANY parrot,DO IT!
You will be rewarded with many, many years,of a loving, and devotive parrot.

Good-looking bird. You know how the ladies get weaves to enhance their hair? Somebody should invent Amazon tail feather weaves. Then even scruffy Patagonians could have attractive derrieres.
