I have owned my current amazon for about 6 months now and have paid a lot of attention to his body language. I would like to understand why he does certain things:
Trilling. I noticed he does this when he is content at night and ready to go to sleep, but exhibits no other body language. In the past, I have observed amazon trilling when they are excited with tails fanned out and eyes pinning. I take it that trills have more than one meaning?
Air being blown through the nares. I notice this whenever I bring my boy out of the cage. Members here have mentioned a scent being emitted when this happens. I have noticed occasionally a slight odor, but do not understand the purpose of the air blowing or the scent. Is this a good thing?
I feel stupid asking these questions as I have owned amazons in the past but never noticed these things before. I admit 30 years ago, I was not as educated about birds as I am now.
