Just sharing a craigslist ad from Pittsburgh's craigslist.

This poor bird is featured in THREE separate ads over the past 6 days, with the price going from $500 to $400 to an ad with no price in it. The latest ad is:

Amazon Parrot

The ad says he is growing feathers back, but its hard to tell from the picture whether he is plucking or growing.

Anyhow, anyone looking for an amazon . . .

[I'm feeling sorry for him.]

Sorry -

Must be worse to be even closer & not able to help.

I started an email to the person offering to take the bird (no cage, no money exchange) if he was in trouble. (I don't NEED another bird. I don't even WANT another bird. But I don't want to see a bird in trouble.) But I'm about 3+ hours away & won't be in Pittsburgh for several weeks, at least.

SoI hoped someone closer would be able to help the poor guy out.

actually i was thinking of doing the same thing. I did email them and asked what they wanted. When they came back with a reply i was going to offer a good home + home visit, maybe they will be happy with that vs money....doubt it though

Good luck - I can't tell if they are dropping the price because that's what some people do on craigslist, or if they have gotten feedback on the price being high for the quality of the cage & the state of the bird's plucking.

But if the plucking is recent, I can only imagine that changes have occurred in the household that are stressing human and avian inhabitants alike.

I sent a very polite email asking the rehoming fee and i never got a reply....
Oh well, at least i tried. I just feel horrible for that bird and he is still listed!

After they told me the fee i was going to ask to take him for free if they wanted to visit my home and factor in cost of a nice size cage/ vetting/ healthy food. I have yet to own a parrot, but my tons or research before buying tells me he isnt on the healthiest diet based on his looks....

The first that needs to be done, who ever gets this bird is to get rid of the crap cage and get a decent one. I can tell just how much that love that bird has received from his current owners just by the phrase "get rid of" referring to the bird.

Poor bird. Not only is he obviously unloved and cramped in that little cage, but he looks pretty filthy, too. It might just be the lighting in the picture, but the feathers down his chest and stomach look really grungy in the picture you posted here...

some people.

i don't know why they wouldn't return my email...frustrating. I know i am in no place to rescue a bird being i haven't even had my own bird home yet...but i know enough to say this isn't right. I was hoping i could maybe at least adopt for a minimal fee do enough looking to find the bird a great home, you know...drive it to someone from this forum :). i love road trips lol...sorry guys!

but in all seriousness, i feel horrible for this guy and im really hoping someone responsible and knowledgeable gets him...
