amazon is scared of fruits

He is scared of fruits like apples Berry's pears etc. I had tried to eat in front of thing he doesn't care i put them in his cage he ignores them and eat around them. I tired to target it to him cause he is stick trained he wouldn't get near it and I also put treats on apples to he can get near it but no luck.

Anything I can do now? I really want him to eat fruits. he eats lettuce and Spanish. he dose not eat seed he eats zupreem pellets.

Seems the problem is your not feeding a variety of fruit & veggies together. I feed my parrots like 3 or 4 veggies & 2 different fruits. Try chopping up into small pieces & make his bowl look colorful.

It's not that your bird is scared of this fruit it's that he doesn't recognise it as food as he hasn't been taught to eat a variety of foods from weaning.

If a parrot is weaned onto all sorts of different foods usually you can feed them just about anything at all.

Lettuce is not good for parrots.

You can try putting small pieces of fruits on a skewer and hanging them in the cage. If you dip in citrus juice they will not turn brown.

It's not nutritious (meaning containing many nutrients) for parrots, or for humans - but at least for humans it can be a good addition to a balanced diet.

As long as its not harmful and they enjoy it, I'd say give them variety.

I've heard that iceberg is bad for them, Merlin will nibble on romain, leaf lettuce. He's not a big lettuce eater, but he gets it anyway.

Iceberg lettuce has very little nutritional content.
Regarding lettuce the darker the color the more nutritionally dense!!

It is supposed to give parrots runny poops as it's about 90% water & yes not nutritious. It's not that it will hurt them at all. I do believe that it's OK to give to overweight Parrots.

Romain lettuce is better than the other kinds. Has anyone tried celery. Cricket loves it and plays with it too as a shredding toy. There are many foods that are good for birds that have high water content such as melons and celery.
