Amazing Prehistoric Bird Simulator!

Okay guys, so I don't know if you guys are aware, but there's this game that's been in development for the past few years. Even if you aren't into video games, this game has amazing scientific merit! The game is called "Saurian", and it features the most up to date scientific findings on prehistoric flora, fauna, weather patterns, etc., in the Hell Creek ecosystem 66 million years ago! The developers have been consulting with palaeontologists and other experts. They've also spent hundreds, if not thousands, of hours reading scientific papers on all the different reptiles, mammals, dinosaurs, plants, etc.! Their goal is to continually update the game as new scientific discoveries come to light. They've consulted numerous papers on morphology, scale impressions, feather impressions, pigmentation, etc., so these dinosaurs will look almost identical to how they looked in real life! They'll even behave realistically and whatnot! Seriously, check out the trailer:

Now you're probably wondering why you should care. Well, as you may or may not know, birds are the only extant dinosaurs remaining. All non-avian dinosaurs went extinct. However, avian theropods survived the KT mass extinction, eventually giving rise to modern birds/theropods. Anyways, I think this game will be a great way to develop a better understanding of our birds.

Great mix of the different knowledge bases that provides near, to a fully believable world and the creatures found within. Was very impressed with the development of the 'star' - the Prehistoric Bird.

What was missing is the 'effects of' weather patterns. Which in fact is /was a great benefit since even with the 'best' most current equipment the models do not work. So, best they leave that out and deal with the supportable stuff that makes this game believable.

I will have to tell my husband about this. He's the one who likes playing video games (I generally just run in circles or into walls until I die).

This looks like a very cool project though. Love the feathered dinosaur being the main one featured. Scientists are apparently now realizing lots of dinosaurs were feathered and direct ancestors to birds. And the way it moves is just so....reminicent of someone Thanks for sharing this!

Man, I'm glad you guys are as excited as I am about this game. I've always been a fan of dinosaurs, and I've always wondered what it would've been like back in prehistoric times. Unfortunately, I haven't been keeping up with recent findings. However, I recently found out about TREY the Explainer. I absolutely love his YouTube channel! He talks about all sorts of amazing palaeontological findings! I'd definitely recommend checking him out! Here's some awesome videos below. Man, I'm pumped! I saw the trailer for the game at 1 am last week, and I ran into my parents room and was squealing the whole time while my dad watched the trailer. Yeah, I know, I'm 21 and I still live with my parents . I'm an only child, so there's no rush to leave the nest!

Anyways, I'm really looking forward to learning as much as I can about dinosaurs (especially my kids' ancestors). It's amazing how birdlike dinosaurs are according to recent scientific findings. Since Rumi became flightless, I've been amazed at the way she's adapted. Instead of using her wings for flying (well, she can technically fly a few inches), she's been using them to balance herself and to help her climb. It's kind of cool seeing her use her wings as if they were arms. When she first started using her wings this way, it was the first time it truly dawned on me that birds ARE dinosaurs. I've also been staring at my birds' feet and legs a lot, and it's amazing just how much they look like dinosaur legs. Especially with the raised reptilian scales near the talons.
