Am I sending the wrong signals when scratching my GW’s head?

In the past few weeks she’s really opened up to me and allowed me to touch her more and give her a few good head and neck scratches. Lots of pin feathers in there so I guess this helps and she must feel relief from all those itching feathers.

But when I give her a good scritch she lowers her head, almost completely closes her eyes and begins to grab at her tail feathers...

At that point I usually stop and change her focus by playing ball with her.

Don’t want to send her the wrong signals and begin an over-bonding issue.
Or is this a normal reaction...?

It sounds to me like you have a very relaxed and content bird.

You are stopping right when he gets in the zone. Its kinda like when you are getting your back scratched and all the right spots are getting hit.

Keep going!!!!

Hard to say, Phoebe does this sometimes when I scratch her head, but hers seems to be more like "Oh that feels good! I just realized I itch somewhere/have a feather out someplace else". Fluffing up and yawning are also normal and ADORABLE! Glad to hear you're making progress with your GW.[emoji1]
