Hi all,
I have a wood burning stove in the house and I worry about not taking enough precautions to keep my birds safe.
I use multiple air purifiers and also a humidifier and of course the birds are no way near it , dont want nobody being accidently burned. Just want to make sure I am doing the right things here.
Thanks again :) :)

I have one, too, and am looking for a humidifier for my Grey. I haven't run it in a couple of weeks, but even the forced air heating seems to be drying her out.

However when it's on, it pretty much prevents me from having the birds out. I don't want one to fly into the door when I put a log in there. Or to land on it.

I think as long as you can keep your birds from getting on or in it, you are doing fine.

Thanks , I really worry about them during the winter months.
My Rose Breasted Galah was a severe feather plucker when I took her in , so I want to keep her comfortable and so far so good , she hasnt plucked yet :) I hate dry skin myself , so you can imagine how they feel and they can't do anything about it.
I agree with keeping them in when the stove is on , very scary thought there about them flying near it . I always water down the brick so that helps .

How often do you think one should run the humidifier ?

Well, I haven't gotten one yet so I'm not sure I can answer that yet. I was going to try half a day and then go from there. If it needs to run all the time, then I guess it does. If half a day was good enough, I was going to just keep with that. If it could run less, I was going to run it less. Sorry, that isn't much help, is it?

I do put a kettle of water on top of the stove when it's running to get water into the air.

Thank you for your help :) '
The kettle on the stove is a good idea . I hate the cold weather :(
Im a sunny and 60ish kinda person , lolol.

Just make sure that if you put a kettle on the stove with water that it is NOT a Teflon coated one. Teflon can and will kill a bird... The fumes from it is extremely bad for a bird... :(
