Am I crazy to think of asking about this?

So I'm getting a blue and gold macaw. I recently found out that the breeder wears onto pretty bird and zupreem fruit pellets (plus seeds and nuts). I have a weird thing about what my family and pets eat. My birds eat a mixture of TOPS, Zupreem Naturals, Roudybush, and Higgins Intune pellets. I really don't like the idea of pretty bird and zupreem fruit pellets. Would it be weird to ask the breeder to wean to my food mix? I mean I could send the mix to them and everything. Is that considered rude? Thanks!

Nope you can ask for what ever you want. My B & G eats Zupreem Fuit Blend and is healthy. So its what ever you want.

Your Bird Your way .

Not rude unless you approach it that way . :)

I completely agree with Christine. The breeder should have no problem with that. It's actually very wise thinking. Easier to wean him to your diet choices than force him to change to new pellets later.

Exactly! Easier than trying to switch pellets...

And the way you approach this is, this is what I'm going to be using, so here is a supply of it, please wean the bird onto this... that way she recognizes it as food.

I would say it is a good idea :) It will be your bird and really, it will be easier for the bird to get used to his new life with you! Then he wont have to change foods when you get home. Also your food choices are a great choice! My birds eat a little Zupreem fruit blend with their other feed manly because they refuse to eat the natural pellets -_- Thankfully they eat their fruits an veggies!
