Aluminum Kings Cage

Hey guys, just wanted to know if anyone has bought one of those new Aluminum cages from Kings cages. Was thinking on getting on for my Grey. Let me know what u think and if u recommend anything else. The cage she is in right now is nice but i think she needs something a little bigger. Thanx.

I don't have any experience with these cages but I would stay away from them because they are made of aluminum. Aluminum is a metal that can be cold welded just by a little bit of force. (I have cold welded a nut to a bolt) Any metal that can be cold welded is a soft metal and will deteriorate rapidly if you bird decides to chew on the bars. That is my view.

They are also really expensive for using aluminium. If you spent a little more you could get a stainless steel cage.

We have Kings cages for our RFM and CAG and LOVE them. They're large and sturdy. One is their standard powder coated model and the other is stainless steel. I haven't see the aluminum ones, but, personally, I trust King's to make a safe, durable cage. However, that trust shouldn't stand in place of some research.

There is a huge difference between aluminum and hard anodized aluminum. Kings cage is hard anodized, which can make it harder than steel. There are lots of good reviews from parrot owners that have this cage, that I've talked to. Birds can't make a dent in the bars. These are not big enough for a large Too or Mac. The only comment I've heard con, is that the flat-top version was so much shorter than expected.

I have an aluminum King's cage for my Sennie who chewed the powder coating off his last cage. No more chewing the bars (they seem to be thicker?), easy to assemble and a breeze to clean. Wish I could afford to get them for all my birds. I don't see any welds...the bars fit into holes.

only one thing bad about Kings Aluminum cages , if you are planning on putting large heavy perches in the cage forget it , they won't hold a large size perch to good , I used to have one and the perches were to heavy for the bars to hold up , other then that they good cages and easy to clean

I have 2 aluminum bird cages (one large, one travel) purchased directly from Kings Cages in February 2014. The cages come with plastic feeder bowls that hang over the top of the feeder door. The only way to get the bowls in and out is to open the feeder door. The feeder doors are secured with U shaped plastic feeder door locks. After only 18 WEEKS of use, all 3 feeder door locks cracked & broke on my aluminum cage and no longer lock. The bird can slide the lock open from the inside since the plastic parts no longer lock. The feeder door locks cannot be replaced because the company is out of these parts.

Over the last month, I have communicated with Kings Cages many times by phone and email. They did send me 3 new plastic door locks but are not able to offer any reasonable long term solution. They even sent me a video of how to change the plastic cage door locks with a person’s voice saying “we don't have it anymore”.

As a veterinarian, these cages are not secure with broken feeder door locks. Please save your money and get a cage without plastic door locks that will be secure for your bird! I have used Kings Cages powder coated cages for over a decade but these cages are a huge disappointment. They advertise excellent customer service but my customer service experience with Kings Cages has been poor because they are slow to respond and do not answer my questions. I just found that the Better Business Bureau gave this company an "F". Not recommended by this veterinarian. Save yourself the frustration!
