Allowing the trainer/former family to visit?

So I've been reading that if you adopt a bird and bond with it, there is still a good chance that the bird will regress if it meets its former family again (assuming they had a good relationship).

I know my greenwing's trainer would love to have visits with Precious after she is delivered. They are pretty closely bonded. She has been with him for about a month and a half now (she's 4 months old). I told him he is welcome to come to my home or I can bring Precious to his place every now and then when I pass by in that direction. After reading all the accounts of birds who regress in behavior and training when they see their former families, I'm now second guessing my offer.

Considering I'm getting her at 4 months old and considering that the trainer only had her for a month and a half and considerinh that they are so close, are visits with him recommended or not?

This is a fairly tricky question as 'time' between leave the prior owner /trainer and the length of time the Mac has been with you can result in confusion for the Parrot. Especially, when they leave. Your Mac will arrive believing it was either taken or abandoned and will naturally, deeply miss its family. Their arrival and then leaving again will be very confusing for you Mac.

This kind of separation, meeting, and separation can result in a varied list of possible behavioral outcomes. But, at the very least, any efforts at bonding will have to begin from zero when they leave. And, you will be the bad guy.

IMHO, and others may strongly disagree, I would not recommend a meeting in the first year possible a couple of years at the soonest.
