Alfie wrangles Wild Davids (picture heavy)

I just wanted to show off our rescue cockatiels. This one is Alfie, he is in his mid twenties and as you can see he spends his spare time wrestling Dave and putting him in his place. Bugsie, his mate, is almost 30years old and less inclined to come out of his cage. They will both step up for me, but bugsie puts his wings out like he is going to fly and flaps a lot. He will often fall and the whole thing is pretty traumatic (he is incredibly old), so when I have him out I have to put him against my chest and put a hand over his wings. He will happily sit like that to have his pin feathers rubbed provided he can see and hear Alfie. Alfie is much braver and now come out on his own. If I sit on the couch next to him he will come over and sit on my arm to ask for head scritches.
Today they had their first shower with me since they are having a huge molt. The pictures at the link are showing the day Alfie finally decided that Dave is pretty great. I love these guys, and they will spend the rest of their days with us. When they first came they were really scared and didnt like either of us. Neither would step up and both of them would try to fly if you took them out of their cage.
A few days ago we heard our other rescue cockatiel Bananas (pics and stories to come) calling back and forth with Bugsie and Alfie. All the birds have perches on the outside of their cages and have their doors open whenever we are home. Sometimes Alfie goes on adventures, and Bugsie being his mate will hop down and follow. Our birds arent allowed on the floor, and when we got up to go put them back in their cage they were right behind us looking for attention!
