Hello. Our greenwing will be joining our family in late Nov- early Dec. We have a CAG. I need to order air purification machines. The house we are moving into in a few weeks is 2800 sq ft so I'm assuming I need two?

What types should I consider? I was looking at an Austin Pet Machine.

I understand the importance of these, especially with a grey and macaw.

Thanks,
Michelle

Since you already have a dusty grey, why are you interested in ordering an air purifier at this time...what were you using previously?

Nothing as far as air purifiers, just a humidifier. She's our only bird. I didn't think about getting one until we started talking about a second bird and researching online I read that you must have one (air purifier) if you add a second bird.

Clean daily and our CAG gets frequent showers.

I'm going to talk to our avian vet but also want to hear from macaw people. Especially those who live with a grey and a macaw. (Or cockatoo since they are even more dusty than greys)

I'm trying to find out which brand is most recommended since this is a $500 purchase. (At least the Austin is)

Thanks to anyone who can help direct me. I want to be 100% certain we are doing everything we can/should when adding the second parrot to our family.

If you're interested in humidification, you need to look at the specie, but 40% to 60% will cover the majority of companion parrots and somewhat less expensive regular vaporizers can easily handle your humidity concerns...and...if you are purchasing your new home, you might want to look into adding whole house humidification to your home's air conditioning system.....they can often be less than even one of the $500 Austin units you're looking at.....

Good luck.....

I'm looking at air purifiers. Due to the grey's dust.

Thank you.

You might want to look into adding micro filters to your new home's A/C system, the home's existing returns might be able to already handle them.....a lot of people don't realize that adapting existing systems may be a lesser expensive alternative.....

Great idea. I Wonder if it will work with heat? It has water/boiler heating system but no central a/c. I'll check into it. Thanks.

Sorry, but if you have room radiators, probably not, you probably don't have the ducting necessary to make adding microfilters realistic.....

I have the Rabbit Air it does a WONDERFUL job, the only other one I would consider is the Austin Air.

I use a Honeywell Air Genius 5 in my bird room, and it does a great job as well.

Which model do you have?

I think I'll need one for the large family living area and a smaller one for the birds sleeping area?
