We had another aftershock (4.9) this morning around 6:15am or so.
Pinky injured her primary feathers and was bleeding.
Pinky’s left wing primaries have never grown in properly and are always at risk.
Tried to get them to stop bleeding with corn starch but didn’t work.
Had to pull out the feather. Was the first time I have ever had to do this.
It was easier than I thought it would be but I don’t think Pinky will trust me again for a long time.:02:

That’s scary! I’m sorry poor Pinky got hurt and feel bad that you had to pull the feather. My Sweet Pea has an area on one wing that she has trouble with when new feathers come in, I’ve had to pull a couple of feathers for her, she was quick to forgive and trust me again, hopefully Pinky will quickly forgive and forget too.

I'm sure you and your family + flock have been through the ringer with the recent quakes/aftershocks.

You did what was necessary, no doubt Pinky was not amused but will come around.

May your relationship recover quickly!
The quakes/aftershocks reported on national and local news outlets has included additional comments by the experts (early-on) that more would be coming and that they would be strong. That I believe is new as commonly, the statement would be only additional aftershocks would be likely. I'm guessing that there has been a recent break though regarding understanding earthquakes. At least once they release?

Guess I'm having a blonde or grey moment, for some odd reason I assumed you were from Texas! We've been so consumed in watching this incoming Hurricane, The local weather folks have been taking up the National News spots. Although I keep National News on constant record on my DVR, and watch local news as time permits, it's all been storm news this whole week, So if you wouldn't have said anything, I would have not known.... Once upon a time when I was very young, I remember living in Port Hueneme, as my Dad was in the Navy. I don't miss the earthquakes, although in my young age, we never got a big one in my 13 years of living there. I did see the beginning of the week though, that someone was under a jeep working on it, when they think an earthquake happened, causing the vehicle to fall from it's jack or stand, crushing the guy under it. Very sad situation.... Mother Nature lately has been running rapid, from the flooding and Tornadoes up North, to Hurricanes and Tornadoes in the South, to Wildfires and Earthquakes out West..... almost reminds me of contractions in a woman's birth process!
