African Ringneck parrot owners pls answer <3

Sorry I meant to make the title African RINGNECK parrot owners pls answer <3

there is no section for african ringnecks, but i would like to hear what people with African Ringnecks feed their parrots (like pellets / seed mix diets)

They are smaller than indian ringnecks, which is why i'm hoping someone with an African Ringneck answers this question.





i've tried researching about it and i can never find anything thats specifically about african ringnecks.

Like the pellets that i bought for my parrot seem to be to big for him, but I know that parakeet food is waaay too small?? So it has me a bit confused.

right now he went from an only seed diet to a nutriberries diet,
the pellets i bought for him were too big, so i would love any advice on pellets that you guys feed your African ringnecks

he shows no interest in pellets atm (or fruits or vegetables) sooo i would love the advice on what pellets to try.

Hi Lettie! I do not have African ringnecks sorry. Switching to pellets can be difficult, you will find lots of threads on this. What brands have you tried? I use TOPs and Harrison, and Tropican, and zoopreem. Mine actually like some pellets that are big, I buy the zoo prerm for African grey or Amazon. The Tops is the same pellets for all hook bills ... Veggies mine like them big enough to hold in their foot. You can make veggies corn bread and try, or cook some like sweet potato. I swear by hot chili peppers they gobble those up!

I have zupreem natural and zupreme fruitblend flavors currently. both are for parrots & conures (and birds alike)
i thought that was a good size, but they might be too big? I'm not sure.

I think my main problem is that he doesn't show interest AT ALL in ANYTHING ( besides his nutriberreis that I'm feeding him right now and his spray millet )

I've tried to add a bit of pellets, nothing, he shows no interest in the fruit or veggies i give him. No interest in the yogurt fruit treats i bought him either.

Ya it's hard to get them eating! Give assorted veggies first thing in the morning, having removed the seeds overnight. Leave the pellets in all the time, I would go ahead and try a different brand you can order online as most stores don't carry the good stuff, offer the seed mix in the afternoon. Get a scale and Jeep tract of weights. Don't give up! You can get him eating them, takes time.. I hide pellets in everything like in scrambled eggs, in oat meal, in pasta....you can share a plate of veggies they try better in a flock setting, it stealing from you. That said I'm on month two with Penny and it's still a work in progress but she eats em warmed abd mixed in stuff, or if I crumbled and hand feed. Keep trying!

its just hard bc hes very scared of me

flies away from my hands, and if i try to show him what i'm eating he freaks out because he feels threatened i guess

so its not like i can just make him step up and show him what i'm eating or let him taste it. Q_Q not yet at least.
