so my african grey leo has a ton of pin feathers coming out andnoticed he is very down and not talking at all..... also i think hes beak is sensitive not sure if he bit something or what but hes not eating his pellets.... are these usual behaviors when african grey are molting?

Will he let you remove the pin feathers? He should still be eating.Birds have blood in their beaks but I wouldn't say its very sensitive.

he was doing fine and today i noticed the tip of his beak is very thin and hes not grabbing on to any of his treats not climping on the chage his beak hurts him :(

Maybe he cracked it a little. My grey she banged her beak on the floor at the tip broke off just a small bit and a little blood dripped and she didn't eat for a while or talk but she did eat fruit so maybe give him soft foods. You can even soften his pellets with water.

i will definetly do that thank you do they isolate? he just ignores me and isolates?

He could have bruised his beak scratching his head on the bars of his cage trying to relieve his itchiness. Bruises are hard to see on dark beaks but can be there and take a long time to heal (like a bruise on our nail, it has to actually grow out before it's gone). This past fall, I was at the vet with one of my birds for the same type of injury. He had stopped eating his hard foods and was losing weight. My vet took blood to rule out anything more serious (he was fine, thank goodness) and sent him home with antibiotics and something for pain, which helped a lot. I gave him lots of alternative soft foods and soaked his pellets in juice (remove after just an hour if you do that because bacteria can grow fast in that combo). I gave my bird lots of warm, nutritious birdy bread during his recovery, which helped with his hard molt, too. It was a couple of months before his bruise healed and he regained the weight he lost. Good luck to you and your Grey. I hope he will be feeling himself soon.

hey guys just got back from the vet and he said there was a cut under his foot which may have been the cause of an infection and under his bottom beak the vet said that it was red. so he prescribed batril 22.7mg one a day its in a syringe liquid form any idea how effective this drug is ?
