Hi guys ive only had my african gray parrot for a few weeks we been getting on well hes been letting me stroke him but the last couple of days hes been acting realy wied he s been fetching his food up only when I go near him someone sed he sees me as a mate how do I stop this can I stop this

First of all, how old is this bird? It may not be a bird mate issue if this is a bird that is too young to be hormonal. Baby birds share food with those they love. Food is a community event...

Secondly, it depends on where you stroke him/her. Just the head feathers. Don't arouse the bird, if the bird is hormonal.

Thirdly, behave like a parent bird. Be the teacher, not the mate. Reject the advances, and teach the bird stuff. The bird will view you as a parent rather than a mate.

Finally, socialize this bird around strangers.
