Adventures in cage cleaning

Sunday is the day my hubby and I deep clean all the cages. For the first time, he had to work yesterday, so I had all the cages and feed to do myself. We have 26 cages to do,so I knew it was going to be a long day.

I started at 6AM, and was completely exhausted by the time I got to the big bird room, even though I skipped some smaller cages in the other rooms to come back to after the big birds were back in their cages.

Ekko stopped speaking in front of me several months ago.He talks up a storm for my hubby and complete strangers, but is totally mute with me. Well I was down on my hands and knees scrubbing Xander's cage bars, and huffing and puffing quite a bit from exertion.. Ekko comes down to the floor, walks over to where I have my face almost on the floor. He cocks his head and says," Are you okay?"

I started laughing so hard I think I scared him to death.I must have sounded and looked quite bad for him to have broken his silence.

ROFL, Terry! Wow, you really had to use extreme measures to get Ekko to break his vow of silence! I have no idea why birds give us the silent treatment occasionally, I guess it makes sense to them.

Allee, I know, right? I have no idea what I did to offend him, perhaps made fun of his accent? He is back to his normal,mute self today

Wow Terry, you really got some exercise yesterday lol. I can imagine that took some time! That's hilarious about Ekko too, he really must have seen the need to ask you. After all, if he doesn't speak to you normally !

26 cages? I'm fainting at the very idea of it. I guess you could look on the bright side- you COULD have had 26 macaw cages to clean and no small cages

That's interesting Echo decided you to be unworthy of talking to. I wonder why? Glad he still cares enough to ask if your ok! Just goes to show they understand a whole lot more than we think they do.
