Nic Nic..."World's Quietest" Eleonora Cockatoo
So, yesterday my wife and I took our two little boys, 3 & 4, to meet Nic Nic, the Eleonora 'Too we are adopting.

The entire visit was amazing. The boys were well behaved (as they honestly usually are) Nic Nic was gentle and seemed to enjoy having them there and interacting with them.

Have a cage being delivered Wednesday: a 40x32x72 Victorian Top cage...and we are taking the boys to Bird Paradise for a toy (and food etc) shopping spree on Friday.

Nic Nic's current caretaker Jeanne (A Helping Wing Parrot Rescue) is coming Saturday for a home visit and to drop Nic Nic off at is new forever home.

CAN'T WAIT....haven't been this excited in a long, LONG time!!!

Wish us luck.:white1:

Please always supervise your 3-4 year old boys around a Cockatoo. They can be tempermental especially if they see something else getting the attention they think they should be getting. I have seen some pretty NASTY injuried inflicted by cockatoos. Go on You Tube and see for yourself. But if you've already bought the bird, I wouldn't let your wife see it.

I saw one video where a man had his Cockatoo on his shoulder, the cockatoo reached over as the fellow turned his head and the cockatoo bit him above the eye requiring stitches. It was a nasty bite.

Cockatoos can bevery sweet and loving birds. But they can also be very destructive.

Thanks Mike. I have seen videos like that and even a few bites first hand. (I was a zookeeper for 7 years.)

I have been REALLY going over things with the kids and they are NEVR around the bird unsupervised.

Growing up here in Farm Country, where we live they have been raised to respect animals and give them their space (I also realize that they are still just 3 & 4) but we are doing our best to teach them the proper way to behave around the bird.
