Roscoe-Blue and Gold macaw

Abby- Green wing macaw
Piccollo- Sun Conure.

Fosterer of many diff species :)
The rescue that I got my BandG from has offered to me a 35 yr old Mullocan cockatoo. I of course said yes and I am so excited to meet Sam. I think Roscoe will be so happy to have a brother to talk to and play with. I feel like Ive won the lottery :))))))))))):white1:

Macs don't handle too dust well so I'd keep them in separate rooms and use an air purifier.

Congrats on the new addition!

I agree. I have a huge air purifier in the breakfast room. Of course Sam will be Quarantined for a month even though he has had his shots I want to be safe . :grey:

Will Rogan be in the same house as well? Since those are both dusty birds it could be double the trouble! As thekarens stated, Macaws are sensitive to dust and IMO, should be limited to the amount of time they are together.

There is also no guarantee that they'll get along. Hopefully this won't discourage you but both species have the beaks to do major damage to one another.
Has the Mollucan been around other birds in the previous home? If not, it's best to take the introduction very slowly. The 30 day quarantine should help by stating there is anothe bird in the house.

I have 2 Macaws and 4 Toos in a huge bird room. Every things fine with a air purifier and lots of baths for everyone :)

I'm not a paranoid person, but I think that depends on the size of the room, the type of purifier and how long you've had them. If you've had them 20 years without problem then I'd say you're possibly fine, but if it's under 10 then I don't think you can know the types of problems you might have down the road.

Rogan will come over when his dad comes of course. I live in a very large open house, and so far its been a great adjustment. Purifier doing its job and cleaning on my part as usual. Thank you for the sweet comments.

Oh and I dont plan on putting them together. Both big beaks and God forbid anything should happen. Safe distance always.

I love, love, love M2s! But they are HARD birds! Please know what you are getting into before taking him on - they are quite different than macaws.

What rescue are you working with?
What do you know about Sam's history?
