As I mentioned in my previous post my 4 year Yellow Sided Green Cheek Conure suddenly changed his behavior and stopped coming to me. I am considering to buy 2nd bird for his company. Is it right time to bring a new member in? Can I consider bringing 10 to 12 week old GCC? I am not sure how my 4 year old will react? :rainbow1:

I wouldn't consider a new bird until you figure out why your existing bird's attitude changed so dramatically. As temperamental and mercurial as birds are, it isn't normal for his personality to suddenly become different.

Until you work that out, or at least rule out illness, trauma, and your style of training, its not time for another bird, in my opinion.

Birds are very sensitive to training techniques. Is there anything that you might have done to scare the bird? They never forget getting scared bad, and it will be in the back of their heads forever.

Name of my GCC is “Polly”. As I said in my previous e-mail, I have setup my computer, TV and Polly’s cage in the one room of my walkout basement. I spend 1 hour in morning and at least 2 ~3 hours in afternoon/evening with him. Polly was sitting on my hand and I was sitting on sofa, watching TV (Polly and I have been siting for last 4 years) when he got scared from something. He did not come to me for several days. Now he stared coming to me when I am sitting on my computer chair and working on computer and let me scratch his head but still avoids coming to me when I am anywhere else.

You are right. I should wait until he comes normal.

I agree. I am all for multi bird households, but in this case you really need to figure out what happened since the change was so sudden and so severe. The reasons stated above are all valid, and chances are one of them is to blame.

Thanks all, for your support.
As I said he now started coming to me when I am on my computer chair. I hope I will get my Polly back to his normal.
