Added a new bird into our flock!

White-faced 'tiel (Cookie). Pied Budgie (Pepper).
So we recently added a new bird into our flock. A female albino 'tiel :white1: ! She's 8 months old so fully weaned, but she doesn't step up without being coaxed with millet.

We bought her from a breeder that doesn't really take great care of their birds.
And because of the conditions she was kept in, she's underweight (62g, weighed her today) and only seems to have 3 tail feathers. She isn't the best flier either. Because of how underweight she is, we can feel her bones. She's almost always hungry, and she eats a lot.

She was hand fed so she's fairly tame but doesn't like hands very much. She trusts us enough that she can groom herself or just relax while we're right next to her. She doesn't know how to step up so we're working on that. She allows to be touched more than Kookie and Crippi do but she obviously does not like being touched so we don't really do that.

Here's a picture of her on her first day here:

Oh and, Crippi (my brother's bird) doesn't like her just like how she doesn't like him.

Congratulations on your new addition. She is a very pretty bird and will fill out in no time since she's eating well. I like your bothers bird too.....but then, I've yet to see a whiteface I didn't like! THANK you for posting the pics.

Very very cute! She's beautiful- what an adorable pair!
I have to ask, did you go to a wedding or similar ceremony recently?
I saw your nails and I would know that stain anywhere ;)

She really is stunning isn't she? Also, I think you maybe a little confused. The whiteface in the pictures is Kookie, my bird. Crippi is a lutino and he absolutely hates me.

Nope. Though one of my relatives is getting married soon. And they really do look good together don't they?

Oh and a little something I forgot to mention in the original post. We haven't named her yet. We're waiting until we find out what her personality is like but until then, feel free to suggest a name! :D

Welcome to your new tiel. Seems you basically did a "rescue" given the marginal conditions. She's a beauty!!

Lovely looking young girl. With the better conditions you are offering she'll fill out fast. My son named his albino Cockatiel Ghost if you are a G.o.T fan. Personally I like more unusual names and would suggest Migaloo. It is the word used by some indigenous Australians for spirit or ghost.

Migaloo is a very unusual and interesting name. I did a little google search on it and found out that there's a completely white whale named Migaloo as well .

So pretty!! Really seems to have a great personality too! Congratulations!

I think it's about time I give a little update on our new bird.

I've decided on a name for her and it's Vixen. It has a nice ring to it. She's also begun stepping up without being coaxed with millet! That was kind of an overnight change, but she doesn't always step up. But there's progress! :D

There's another little thing that I noticed recently and it's that she goes to sleep VERY early. She's usually alseep by 7, which is right around when the sun sets here, and doesn't wake up even if someone turns on the light or makes some noise. She wakes up at around 6, which is when the sun rises here. Well, from what my brother told me, she was kept in a outdoor aviary so I'm guessing her internal clock has not yet adjusted to the indoor life.

I don't have any pictures of her right now but I'll be sure to post some soon!
