hi everyone! just wondering if anyone here has tried acupuncture for their parrots?

I am contemplating to try it for a macaw with bones that are fused weirdly. She has had her leg bones fractured and broken with no vet care given by the previous owner. the bones eventually fixed themselves but are not aligned properly. we suspect that she is in pain everyday as the nerves are impacted due to the improper alignment of her bones.

will acupuncture work to relieve pain? more info on the pros and cons of acupuncture specifically for parrots would be great!

I can't speak for parrots, but my uncle takes his elderly dog for acupuncture frequently and swears by it. According to him, now that they've pursued acupuncture the dog has been able to resume the walks that they were used to taking and had to stop due to pain.

Lol! I'd love to see the bird who sits still for that!! There'd be biting, screaming, and yanking the needles out themselves, and who could blame them!
I'm not a believer of acupuncture, or a disbeliever. However, that system was designed for humans, working with invisible "meridians". There would be no way to figure out where "bird meridians" (if there is such a thing) are, since it was designed for humans, and later adapted for mammals.
I'd rather take my bird to yoga :D ......there's an idea, birdie yoga! Haha
